BPI has unveiled an AI-driven assistant designed to assist Filipinos in monitoring and strategizing their expenses.

This new Track and Plan feature is now accessible through the updated BPI app, where it diligently tracks and evaluates an individual’s financial transactions within the app.

Moreover, this feature will provide recommendations to facilitate wiser financial choices and potential investments down the road. To utilize Track and Plan, simply navigate to the animated scrolling cards at the top of the screen.

This tool will generate insights based on the user’s cash flow and display notifications for consecutive withdrawals of a similar nature. Subsequently, Track and Plan will propose strategies for making investments and increasing savings when the account balance consistently remains high.

Furthermore, it can monitor spending patterns and send alerts if the monthly billing statement surpasses the average amount. Track and Plan can also monitor trends in your spending and alert you in case your bill was higher than your average—so you can be more mindful of your budget.

In due course, the tool can be configured for automatic investments, eliminating the need for users to continually open and log in to the BPI app.

It can be recalled that last April 12, BPI recently introduced a new mobile banking app aimed at broadening the range of services accessible through their platform. Ultimately, this app will incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) to provide tailored suggestions to users.

“We’ve built it on a new technology stack, which allows us to improve and change the app more often, so we will have more drops more often, which will allow us to keep adding functionalities to the app over time,” BPI president and chief executive officer Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco said in an interview.

He added, “We’re proud of the new BPI app, and we know there’s room to continue improving.”

“While we look at the best technology and digital solutions to ensure that we deliver excellent service, we anchor the designed experiences to what our customers need.”

As per Maria Cristina “Ginbee” Go, who serves as the Head of Consumer Banking at BPI, the new BPI app plays a pivotal role in the bank’s “phygital” strategy, which aims to enhance accessibility to the bank for a broader Filipino audience by combining physical branches with digital channels and platforms.

“Our customers have the option to bank with the app in tandem with BPI branches and ATMs—giving them a choice of their preferred channel with integrated services like online booking of branch visits or cashless withdrawal,” she said.

Delving into the fundamental aspects of the new BPI Consumer Bank app, Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Head of Marketing, Platforms, and Digital Activation, highlighted that this application surpasses routine transactions by contributing to the financial self-sufficiency of Filipinos.

“This boasts of a new design and experience, and we look forward to exciting new features that you won’t find in the older BPI Mobile app like mobile check deposit, AI-powered insights on your savings and spending, and more.”

“These are core retail products designed not just to be convenient and sustainable but also customer-centric even in the long-term,” she said.

Fitzgerald Chee, the Head of Consumer Platforms at BPI, emphasized that users of the BPI Mobile app do not need to uninstall their old app at this time.

“You can continue to log in the older BPI Mobile app with your current username and password. Users that want to start enjoying the new BPI app can find easy-to-follow guides on our Facebook and YouTube channels,” he said.

He also expounded that QR codes generated on the older BPI Mobile app are still going to work on the new BPI app.

“You can also view all your personalized settings, previous transactions, and statements right away on the new BPI app,” he stated, clarifying, “For your security, the Mobile Key works within the new BPI app or the older BPI Mobile app. Users can choose which app version to activate their Mobile Key.”
