Leon Barretto recently penned an open letter on his Instagram account to his estranged father Dennis Padilla.

This was apparently Leon’s way of replying to Dennis’ post for not being greeted on Father’s Day.

Leon revealed in the note that it has always been awkward for him and his family to greet Dennis on Father’s Day because they never know where they stand with the actor. He also aired his sentiments regarding this issue.

“For the past 10 years, we have been trying so hard to slowly rebuild the bridge you continuously burn every time you talk about our private matters in your press cons, interviews, and social media. Papa, why does it seem like you enjoy hurting your kids in public?”

“Why do you keep posting cryptic posts about us and allow people to bash us on your own Instagram page?,” Leon then asked.

He  continued on and said, “Do you think it does not pain all of us not to feel protected by their own father. It’s not that we don’t want to talk to you, but the few times that we do to resolve the issues, you communicate by shouting, cursing, and using hurtful words that traumatize us. Is public sympathy really more important to you than your own children?”

“Your words have the power to destroy your children, papa,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dennis took to social media and said, ““I have regretfully made mistakes in my life. I may not have been there for you but I always had you in my heart. Sometimes in life, there are things that we will never understand why it happened. In the end, I regret all the moments I let slip by.”

Dennis underscored being their father was the greatest honor in his life which allowed him to touch the grace of God. He also stressed that he regrets not being candid about his feelings and said that he would love to spend more time with them.

One may note that Dennis was previously married to actress Marjorie Barretto in 1997, however, the two celebs parted ways in 2009.
