Liza Soberano Gets Schooled by Showbiz Personalities

Liza Soberano‘s not out of the furnace yet. It seems she did strike so many nerves with her Youtube vlog talking about not being just a flower anymore.
Ogie Diaz, Liza’s former manager, decided to understand her point of view and thanked Liza for being obedient, in response to her alleging that the people around her were controlling her. “Kaya siguro sumikat siya,” he said.
Furthermore, addressing her as “anak”, he clarified that they do listen to the young actress especially if she had complaints, but of course, they had to compromise.
Ogie thanked her for obliging the production staff when they show her extra affection to get her to agree. He did remind her that they do take into consideration what she does or doesn’t want.
He then went on to discuss how her screen name came about, which Liza claimed was something she didn’t choose. It turns out that Malou Santos, the current COO of Star Creatives, is behind her screen name. The entertainment reporter reminded her that the name helped her support her family, and explained: “It might have been an issue if the screen name did not leave a mark on the minds of Filipinos [and] if they did not support you.”
“King of Talk” Boy Abunda appears to be very much dismayed with the young actress. “Do not disregard your past,” he expressed his disappointment. He agrees to her rebranding but hopes that she “can journey in gratitude.”
Known for her acerbic tongue for decades, seasoned broadcaster and columnist Cristy Fermin did not mince words. In the February 28 episode of Cristy Ferminute, she addressed Liza Soberano’s and said that it’s just fitting that she isn’t Filipino.
Cristy felt sad regarding Liza’s declaration, and called her ungrateful for apparently looking at the aid of the individuals around her in a negative light. “Ito pala yung ano, ito pala ang tunay na dahilan kung bakit ka umalis ng Pilipinas. Hindi yung, gagawin mo pang sangkalan yang Hollywood, na butas ng karayom ang lulusutan mo bago ka makapasok,” she said.
Netizens quickly noticed that Star Cinema executive and Rise Artists PH head, Mico del Rosario, tweeted a statement last February 26 that seem to target the former Kapamilya star: “Hiyang-hiya naman ako sa statements. Parang walang-walang naambag sayo at all ah. Kayo talagang mga kayo. Hahahaha #hilap.”
Some internet sleuths even went as far to discover that Liza’s former directors, Theodore Boborol and Mae Cruz-Alviar, weren’t following her on Instagram anymore.
People speculate that the revelations on the Careless artist‘s vlog were part of the Maya marketing campaign, her first endorsement for 2023. Some are confused as to what to call her now, as she stressed in her video that she has chosen to be called Hope, her real first name, now.
But, during the event last 27 which officially launched her as Maya’s brand ambassador, as pointed out by Nathalie Tomada of Philippine Star, Liza said this: “Call me Liza. I’m better known at work as Liza.”
