Much of our time last year was undoubtedly spent on our phones fiddling with our apps, having faced a lot of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as having to quarantine ourselves and keep a safe distance from other people.

This setup may still take a while even in the year 2021, as we many still opt to work from home and lessen the times of going outside as much as possible.

While it has been quite difficult to be physically apart, we still found ways to stay connected with our loved ones. Our phones became more necessary than ever, since it’s how we stay updated with our families, friends and it also gives us access on what’s going on in other parts of the world.

With the use of social media, we can keep in touch through many popular apps. We also love apps that let us know what’s trending online, as well as those that keep ourselves entertained and preoccupied while at home. The following are some of the most popular apps this year, so far:

TikTok

Swift, digestible, entertaining. Tiktok practically skyrocketed in 2020, and it’s not hard to see why. With its short video format, viewers are a click away when it comes to finding content they like in the app. It also has an interesting algorithm that enables users to tailor their own feed and see what videos they’re interested in. With more than 2 billion downloads just last year, the app still holds a lot of potential for content creators.

Netflix

Since days during quarantine gave us a lot of time to spare, various streaming platforms have been in heated competition as they try to offer content that would best pique our interest. Netflix seems intent on staying on top when it comes to streaming apps, however, as it continues to amass millions of downloads, offering its services to more than 89 countries. Once you have an account, you can easily access its quality list of movies, TV series and more via your desktop or through your phone.

Facebook

Everyone we know probably has Facebook, as it continues its long reign of being one of the most popular apps in the world. The COVID-pandemic hitting has made a lot of people resort to using Facebook in order to stay updated with their loved ones, alongside the Messenger app.

Instagram

This photo and video app continues to be popular, and it’s safe to say that Instagram users still have a lot in store for them. Whether you’re a content creator, marketer or using a personal account, the iconic square image format is an easy way to express yourself or your brand. It can also be addicting to scroll through!
