Held last March 13 at Dusit Thani in Makati, the event of the 175-year-old insurance company Pru Life is geared towards the Gen Z, or those born 1997-2012.

It aims to teach people how to be successful owners no matter how young or old they are, by utilizing the PRU business model and the tools that go with it. The event was hosted by Peter Kriz Padilla (Branch Manager, Diamond Victorian Branch) and there’re two panelists, Marinela dela Paz (Asst. Unit Manager, Diamond Round Brilliant Branch) and Deegee Razon (Unit Manager, Diamond 11 Branch).

Prospective attendees were able to secure their free tickets via the Eventbrite website. Walk-ins were welcomed as long as they register online.

Dela Paz, who’s consistently part of the Top 10 at the agency level, told the audience that prior to joining to PRU, she started a catering business while doing culinary consultancy. “I felt really a bit incompetent when I joined PRU since I wasn’t able to finish college,” she said. Her favorite app is the PRU One, which is very user-friendly and contains everything she needs.

She’s really passionate about her work but that’s not enough to alleviate the cuts and burns she got in the kitchen. “10 years akong nagtatrabaho sa apat na walls ng kitchen namin but hindi ko naranasang lumabas ng bansa,” she lamented. However, working with PRU allowed her to finally visit other countries.

Razon, who just got back from his Hong Kong flight, shared that he has been a Youtube content creator since his college days. He was repeatedly offered PRU in 2019, and finally decided to give it a try in 2020, when the pandemic espoused lockdowns. Since he’s 21 years old though, he’s already a policy owner of PRU.

Even though he found an even bigger success in the company, he considers self-growth as the most important thing he gained. “Take the risk and take the opportunity. Wala namang mawawala if magtatry,” is his advice to people.

The PRU Rookie Journey with the tagline ‘#FromZerotoHero’ was also discussed. To start doing business with the company, a PRU Unit Manager, which would remind one of an upline in multilevel marketing, must invite you. Then, the rookie undergoes a Basic Training Course and other modules such as the Product Recharge. There are digital tools to aid in self-study such as PRU Expert, Prism, PRU One, PRU Pulse, etc.

There is a licensure exam to be considered a legitimate insurance agent that one must pass. After all these, one is now ready to sell the different PRU plans such as PRUShield, PRULife, PRULife Your Term, PRUTerm 15, etc. depending on one’s assessment of the client’s needs.

PRU began back in May 30, 1848 when, according to the website, “a group of gentlemen met in London to form the Prudential Mutual Assurance, Investment and Loan Association. The figure of Prudence was adopted as a symbol to be used on the first company seal and represent the values of the business.”
