Lesha of Careless Music just dropped her second single titled Demons following the success of her first single, “3.33.” She is set to release two more songs with the label in the coming months.

The singer-songwriter/music producer describes her inspiration behind the song as one of the album’s darker tracks. Lesha talks about how listening to your “demons,” which can come in the form of fear, insecurities, or negativity, can change a person. She adds that listening to your inner demons shows a false reflection of who you are as a person.

In fact, Demons was originally called False Reflections when Lesha first released it on SoundCloud, an audio platform for independent artists, back in 2016.

She opens up about how she was bullied back in high school and that she wanted to write about how a trauma like that can change a person and his or her perspective of the world.

“I was 17 back then and I was going through a rough time. I wanted to put that into art and into my songs because that’s the way I can creatively express myself. So I decided to write about that experience on how giving into my inner demons can change me or anyone as people. It really affects you and how people will really be able to see a false reflection of who you really are because of that bad experience you had, and how you somehow had to modify things in your life to become a different or better version of yourself.”

The experience taught her a lot. She now shares her message of hope and learnings with others who are also struggling through her music. “I guess the best way for people to overcome their inner demons is to face it head-on. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past year in order to overcome my struggles in life. I try to look at it from an outside perspective and know how to take constructive criticism and segregate that from the hate.

I’ve grown so much as a person. [That experience is] something that I am forever grateful for. If it weren’t for those challenges, I don’t think I would have ended up here.”

Lesha points out her love for dark pop songs and that she specifically wanted to have the genre incorporated into her album. “I actually grew up with pop rock type of songs. So having that in my album is just very personal to me.”

She mentioned how she loved being part of the creative process and that she is very hands-on.  The artist added ritual-sounding drum beats putting a distinct character to her new single and got extra creative with the vocals to come up with the eerie effect of the track.

“I started out as a DIY artist and I would produce everything. I used to make the entire production of my tracks and I would edit my videos. But now I’m with Careless so we have a team who helps me out with everything. I’m so glad that I’m surrounded by people who fully support me and who know how to take care of me. It’s been great,” Lesha shares when asked about her journey and work before and now with the label.

She also says that she never thought music would be a full-time career for her and that she thought she would end up in business. Now with her successful launches, she sends out a message to aspiring artists: “You have to be dedicated enough and consistent enough to put your content out there for you to be heard. Because if you are consistent, people will commend you more for being an artist that is actually dedicated to their craft.”

Lesha, 24, is a singer-songwriter, record producer, and YouTuber. She has been making waves in the local music industry since the release of her first song in 2017. At present, Lesha has been dominating the Filipino music scene with her head bopping and edgy electropop tracks.
