Hollywood celebrities and netizens were in shocked over Mr. Big’s death in Sex And The City’s first episode Just Like That

One may recall that Carrie returns home after attending Charlotte’s daughter’s recital and finds Big on the floor. He had collapsed due to a heart attack, and Carrie, who is mortified, wraps her arms around him before he dies.

In an on-cam interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis shared how they felt about Big’s death. 

“You know, I am of course, like many other people, is sad to see him go. But I think it was a very bold move. The title of the show is Just Like That, and it’s open to interpretation. And to me it means that in a moment your life can be transformed. Something wonderful can happen and something horrifying can happen,” Cynthia said.

Kristin continued on and stressed, “It’s hard because you never really want this to happen in life just like you don’t want this to happen in fictional life. But on the other hand, it is something that actually does happen in life.”

“I mean, when I saw it I was like, you know, dumbfounded. I just thought it was beautifully done! So beautifully done and such great acting from the both of them,” she added.

Netizens also took to social media and expressed how dismayed they were that Big’s character was killed off. 

One person wrote, “Just like that I will not watch anymore. Stupid choice to have Big die at the first episode. Back to re-runs. I thought the writing was sad. I would have watched it if Big were still on.”

Another stated, “Yes and yes! I only watched it for him and he was brilliant and was and still is amazing!”

One person concurred with everyone else and stressed, “I agree! I was so disappointed when he was no longer on.”

The hit drama series made its debut on HBO Max on Thursday, December 9.
