Hailey Bieber Celebrates $1B Sale of Rhode to e.l.f. Beauty

This week, Hailey Bieber marked a major milestone in the beauty world as her skincare brand Rhode was acquired by e.l.f. Beauty in a landmark $1 billion deal. The acquisition includes an $800 million payout in a mix of cash and stock, with an additional $200 million earnout potential based on future brand performance. The transaction is set to close in the second quarter of fiscal 2026.
Launched in June 2022, Rhode quickly established itself as a disruptor in the skincare industry. Fueled by Bieber’s minimalist skincare philosophy—“one of everything really good”—the brand resonated with a growing base of loyal consumers.
In the past year alone, Rhode more than doubled its customer base and generated $212 million in net sales, making it one of the fastest-growing names in prestige skincare. Just three years after the launch, Hailey Bieber is now a billionaire!
“I feel invigorated, excited and more ready than ever,” Bieber shared following the announcement. “This partnership with e.l.f. Beauty marks an incredible opportunity to reach more of our community and bring Rhode to new spaces, faces, and places.”
Bieber will continue to serve as the brand’s founder while stepping into a new role as Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation. She will remain deeply involved in product development, marketing strategy, and creative direction, working alongside her co-founders Michael D. Ratner and Lauren Ratner, as well as Rhode CEO Nick Vlahos. The team will continue to operate out of their Los Angeles office.
For e.l.f. Beauty, a brand known for offering high-performance products at accessible prices, the acquisition of Rhode represents a strategic leap into the prestige skincare space. “Rhode is a beautiful brand that we believe is ready for rocketship growth,” said e.l.f. Beauty Chair and CEO Tarang Amin. “We found a like-minded disruptor in Rhode, and we’re excited to build something extraordinary together.”
Currently sold exclusively through its direct-to-consumer website, Rhode is expected to expand into physical retail later this year through a new partnership with Sephora, covering North America and the U.K. This marks a significant next step in Rhode’s evolution, allowing the brand to reach more skincare lovers in-store.
Beyond the financial headlines, the acquisition is also a personal triumph for Hailey Bieber. A source close to the couple shared that her husband, Justin Bieber, is “beyond proud,” having witnessed firsthand the dedication Hailey poured into building the brand from the ground up. “This was never a side project,” the source added. “Hailey has worked tirelessly, and this moment is a reflection of her vision and commitment.”
As the beauty industry continues to evolve, Rhode’s rapid rise and this high-profile acquisition reflect a growing trend: celebrity-founded brands that combine authentic vision with savvy business strategy are increasingly shaping the future of skincare.
With e.l.f. Beauty’s support, Rhode is poised to scale even greater heights—one carefully crafted product at a time.
