Actress-host Toni Gonzaga has confirmed that she will no longer be hosting the hit reality game show Pinoy Big Brother.
The actress took to her Instagram account and issued a statement that she is stepping down as the show’s host.
“It has been my greatest honor to host PBB for 16 years. From witnessing all my co-hosts transition from housemates to PBB hosts are just some of the best moments in my life sa bahay ni Kuya! Today, I’m stepping down as your main host. I know Bianca and the rest of the hosts will continue the PBB legacy.”
“It has been my privilege to greet you all with “Hello Philippines” and “Hello World” for the last 16 years. I will forever cherish the memories, big nights and moments in my heart. Thank you Kuya for everything. This is your angel now signing off,” she added.
ABS-CBN also uploaded a post on February 10 to express gratitude towards Toni and her years of service.
“ABS-CBN remains grateful to Toni Gonzaga-Soriano for the 16 years of being the main host of ‘Pinoy Big Brother.’ We value Toni’s hosting prowess and her many years of serving the Filipino with us as our Kapamilya.”
“We accept her resignation from ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ and respect her personal choices,” it said.
Meanwhile, celebrities have vehemently criticized Toni for hosting the proclamation rally of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte, which was held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Tuesday.
As for Toni, the actress has unfollowed most of her celeb friends except for her sister Alex, Mikee Morada, and her husband Paul Soriano. The star seemed unfazed by all the hoopla surrounding the issue, as she even uploaded a photo on her Instagram stories which wrote, “You’re welcome my president.”
It can be recalled that Toni was lambasted for being an avid supporter of Bongbong Marcos and was bashed for interviewing the presidential aspirant on her vlog channel last year.
