OPM singer Jovit Baldivino passed away this Friday, December 9, 2022 at the age of 29.
It can be recalled that he was rushed to the emergency room of a Batangas City hospital after he lost consciousness due to a supposed aneurysm. According to one of the very first reports, Jovit’s brother, Gil Baldivino, confirmed that the former has indeed passed away but there were no official details released yet at the time.
This morning, Jovit’s wife Camille Anne Miguel shared her via a Facebook post, her last photo with her husband before he died. “Asawa ko [crying emojis],” said Camille’s post. According to ABS-CBN reporter MJ Felipe’s post, Jovit’s parents Mr. Hilario “Larry” and Mrs. Cristeta Baldivino already sent an official statement via Jerry Telan, Jovit’s former Star Magic handler. It stated that “he was recuperating for a week with hypertension maintenance medicines.”
However, an invitation was given by a family friend who hailed from Batangas City. Referring to Jovit as “Bundoy”, his parents said that “he gave in to the clamor of the crowd.”
He performed 3 of his signature repertoire, which includes ‘Faithfully’ by Journey. During the third song, he was already trying to catch his breath. After he sat for an hour, saliva covered his face, so he was taken to the nearest emergency room at Nazareth of Jesus Hospital last December 3, 2022 around 10pm.
The CT scan results revealed a blood clot in his brain, which is a symptom of aneurysm. 100cc of blood was suctioned 2:00 AM of December 4, 2022 and was in comatose for 5 days. He then joined our Creator 4:00 AM today December 9, 2022.
Jovit’s last TV appearance was via the GMA game show Family Feud, where he teamed up with his fellow OPM Singers, in an episode that was aired last November 28.
It is important to note that Jovit rose to fame when he won the season 1 of the reality show Pilipinas Got Talent in 2010. His winning performance of ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’ is his third most-viewed Youtube video at 6.6 million. His music video of ‘Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin’ is his most-viewed video at 17 million.
The 2 million pesos cash he took home was mainly used to support his studies as well as his family.
The celeb was quite popular even with the Gen Z crowd because of a pose of him playing basketball became a viral meme. An alleged screenshot of him replying to a fan and expressing dismay over the memes surfaced, but its legitimacy was never confirmed.
