What We Know About Charlie Kirk’s Funeral So Far

The sudden death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has sparked national mourning, with supporters and political leaders alike preparing to pay tribute at his upcoming funeral. While final arrangements remain pending, several important details have already been confirmed, and expectations continue to build regarding who will attend the service.
Kirk’s funeral will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, Sept. 21, the state he called home with his wife Erika and their two young children. Political organization Turning Point USA announced that his funeral will open at 8 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, and the service will begin at 11 a.m. MST (2 p.m. Eastern). It will also be open to the public, however advanced registration will be required.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, his body was flown from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Phoenix aboard Air Force Two. Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance accompanied the casket during the solemn journey, standing alongside Kirk’s family.
Upon arrival at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, supporters and mourners gathered to witness the moment. A heartfelt tribute came over the ground-to-air radio system as an air traffic controller welcomed Kirk back home: “Welcome home, Charlie. You didn’t deserve it. May God bless your family.” His casket was then transported by motorcade to Hansen Mortuary Chapel in north Phoenix, where preparations for the service are underway.

The funeral is expected to draw a high-profile guest list. President Donald Trump has already confirmed that he will attend, telling reporters on Sept. 11 that he felt a strong obligation to be present. “They’ve asked me to go, and I think I have an obligation to be there,” Trump said. In addition, the president announced plans to posthumously award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the nation’s highest civilian honors.
Vice President Vance is also expected to take part in the service, having personally escorted Kirk’s remains to Arizona. Other attendees could include prominent Republican leaders, members of Turning Point USA—the youth organization Kirk co-founded—and supporters from across the country who viewed him as a leading voice for conservative values.
Kirk’s assassination on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University shocked the nation. Authorities quickly identified and arrested a suspect, bringing some relief but little comfort to those grieving his loss. Tributes have poured in from both allies and critics, recognizing the influence Kirk wielded on political discourse, particularly among younger generations.

The funeral is shaping up to be both a personal farewell and a national event. With political leaders, family, and countless supporters expected to gather in Phoenix, it will serve as a moment to honor Kirk’s legacy, reflect on his work, and mourn a life that ended far too soon.
As more updates emerge, the coming week will reveal how the final tribute to Charlie Kirk will unfold—and who will stand together in Arizona to remember him.
