In line with their “Create Next, Create Live” campaigned aimed at the youth who are capable of evolving society, Converse gave invited attendees a sneak peek of what’s in-store the brand this 2023. Nokal, one of the best party scenes in Metro Manila, served as the venue for the event, which was held at 6 o’clock in the evening.
Before one enters the venue proper, the eye-catching Converse jeepney adorned with small flags in a true Filipino fashion would certainly catch one’s attention. But, there is another Instagrammable area at the parking lot a few steps away from the jeepney. This is the backdrop adorned with compact discs with their silver side facing up, as well as the words “Create Next.”
The interior of Nokal is reminiscent of a 90’s disco club, complete with the scintillating silver ball hanging at the ceiling. There’s a platform with the words “Converse #Create Next” on it and beside it are two tables displaying different Converse shoes, like the Run Star Hike, Chuck 70 AT, etc. At the side as well is a mannequin wearing the Converse x Ader Error outfit.
Even though the area definitely still exudes the middle class aura, with its pristine leather couches and lamp-shaped glass decors on the tables, the event tries to give off a mass appeal by serving Filipino street food staples like fishball, kwek-kwek, and calamares. One may also consume the Pinoy style ice cream available in ube, langka, and strawberry.
All Star DJ Alfred Sangil and Kate Jagdon got the crowd energized for the upcoming program by turning up the music. Cheers and screams erupted from the audience as host Dani Mortel took to the stage. Behind her was the new converse.ph website which will go live soon and will showcase the brand’s newest collections.
After that segment, Arvie Dizon, the Marketing Manager of Converse PH, addressed everyone and announced the launch of the novel Converse Create Next music campaign which is led by All Stars Al James and Kiana V. He also confirmed the launch of the never-before-seen collections for spring and summer.
Arvie, who’s wearing the Converse x Ader Error blue varsity jacket, also made it known that the Ader Error collection will be launched soon. Christy Ho, Converse Singapore’s Regional Masrketing Manager, also spoke for a bit and said that she expects a lot of awesome things when converse.ph goes live.
Arvie reiterated the shift from the Converse X branding to the Converse All Stars, explaining the all-encopmpassing thrust of the brand: ” “As we all know, Converse is a popular brand known as All Stars. [That means] everyone is equal. Everyone can be creative.”
Kiana V. performed her original tracks ‘Does She Know, ‘Heartbeat On Me’, and ‘Safe Place’, while Al James sang ‘Pahinga’ and ‘Mood’ with the participation of Muric. All Star Timmy Albert performed ‘Rent Free’ as the finale, his new song which was late released at midnight via Spotify.
The Converse All Star Anthem will be released in March and will include Kiana and Al’s collaboration. The anthem will combine a variety of cultural sound, talent, and auditory artistry in one track which is produced by Marcelo D2, a Brazilian icon, and originated by All Stars all over the globe.
