Clockenflap, the grandest global outdoor music and arts festival of Hong Kong, unveils the festival map together with the comprehensive list of attractions and experiences for 2023, which happens at Central Harbourfront from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 March 2023 and showcases about 100 live performances.

March 3-5 2023 marks the comeback of the well-loved festival in the city

This beloved event is selling out for the first time in its 15-year run, and will be returning to the city after a four-year absence. Fans can look forward to an amazing outdoor setting with multiple stages, a variety of food stalls, and a great lineup of both international and local performers. As in the past, the event will be open and allow visitors to move freely between the stages and attractions during the weekend.

Aside from Arctic Monkeys and Phoenix, featured performers for the musical extravaganza this weekend include Swedish indie-pop icons THE CARDIGANS, French New House pioneer FKJ, Norwegian folk-pop duo KINGS OF CONVENIENCE and American singer-songwriter SASHA ALEX SLOAN (all Saturday), plus hip-hop legends WU-TANG CLAN, UK indie-rock innovators BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB, German electronic supergroup MODERAT and British genre-hoppers BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD (all Sunday).

At Clockenflap 2023, festival-goers can expect to experience six stages of music: 

Harbourflap Stage

The main stage which features some of the biggest acts in music as well as those who are sure to get the crowd singing along. Acts such as Arctic Nonkeys, Wu-tang clan, The Cardigans and Bombay Bicycle Club will be performing exclusively at Clockenflap. 

On Day 1, Artic Monkeys lives up to their name with a captivating performance as they first appeared in Hong Kong, right after the dazzling set Phoenix, the synth-rockers from France.

FWD Stage 

This features a wide range of genres from around the world, including Yellow, KOLOR, MODERAT and Ezra Collective. Yellow’s profound performance on Day 1 leaves an impression in the soul while the Canadian toast of the independent music scene, Men I Trust, started the week with an electrifying feat.

Park Stage

Set within the festival site’s grassy lawns, the Park Stage is a firm fan favourite, and the best place to catch edgy, emerging talent. Broaden your musical horizons with BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD, N.Y.P.D. and HITSUJIBUNGAKU, to name but three.

On Day 1, the stage lights up with indie noise supremos David Boring as well as the ace of Hong Kong’s burgeoning underground hip-hop scene, Younqueenz.

Electriq 

At this stage, listen to international acts such as HAAI, SERUM and SISTER NANCY, as well as the best DJs from Hong Kong. 

Robot Stage 

With two unique temperaments, this features family-friendly and kids-focused content during the day which contrasts with its showcase of Hong Kong DJs and party crews at night. 

Topper

A novelty this 2023, this provides edgy yet accessible electronic music from around the world with djs EL TORO, HELEN TING, DRAFUS and more.

ON-SITE EXPERIENCES:

Arts

Clockenflap is much more than music, with a variety of Instagrammable attractions and audiovisual adventures. 

Pause.Rec.Play 

This provides a chance to come together and jam with special sound effects; VIDEOTAGE curates an imaginative journey into local cityscapes; RELENTLESS MELT has an array of abstract and psychedelic films; MEMORABILIA MOBILE encourages attendees to become a model with Clockenflap as the backdrop; and there are photo ops aplenty with street art from CARATOES and PARENTS PARENTS, plus the BIRDMEN. SOLAR SOUND SYSTEM creates an enjoyable experience too. 

Family-Fun

Families and children are well catered for with puppet-based performances, drum jams, and soothing auditory explorations. 

FWD VIP Lounge & FWD Max Zone

FWD Insurance is hosting its own VIP Lounge, FWD MAX Zone, and Food Bar. Cathay’s lifestyle space is packed with activities, including a rhythm game, selfie wall art, and a feather wearable craft workshop. 

Hoegaarden’s Beer Gaarden 

Clockenflap’s Official Beer Partner HOEGAARDEN offers Belgian wheat beers and fruit-flavoured brews, with a flower crown workshop, and Kaho Hung and Renci Yeung makes an appearance in the first day.

Foodpanda’s Food Bar 

This a great place to grab a bite and win goodies.

Food

With a variety of caterers on-site, fans can enjoy a variety of delicacies from around the world, including a special booth at THE CHILLI LAB that will mimic the famous chili from the recent hit Hong Kong comedy film Chili Joke sauce, as well as local street classics like siu mai, lo mein with goose oil and soy sauce, and chicken wings. KUUCHI CAFÉ in partnership with BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE offers a relaxed atmosphere where festival goers can enjoy coffee, coffee cocktails, signature Liege waffles or other light refreshments.

Craft Market

Handmade Hong Kong is back with the popular CRAFT MARKET, featuring around 30 different stalls selling a variety of festive goodies.

Sustainability Program:

Clockenflap is always committed to protecting the planet and investing in ways to properly manage – and when possible – recycle its waste. This year, Clockenflap will be running an effective recycling program based on reducing waste types in public spaces to an absolute minimum and encourages participants to dispose of their waste. Recycling stations are set up throughout the site with clear signage and dedicated staff are deployec to sort waste into the correct bins. Every container used by Clockenflap is 100% recyclable or compostable, and the festival bans plastic wrap, straws, cutlery, stirrers, or gimmicks from landfills.

Payment Methods:

This year, you can use credit cards, Octopus cards and mobile payment wallets to buy food, beverages, merchandise and crafts at the craft market. Cash purchases are not accepted anywhere on site. So, make sure your mobile phone is fully charged, your credit card loaded, and your Octopus topped up.

Festival entrance:

You must bring your ticket and a photo ID that matches the name on the ticket. Not having an ID can significantly slow you down or even prevent you from entering.

Our staff check tickets and ID at the entrance. If the name on your ticket does not match the name on your photo ID, you will be denied admission. Make sure you update the name on the ticket if needed! A ticket is valid for one entry only.

If you hold a student ticket, you must bring your full-time Hong Kong student card. Festival goers with student tickets who cannot produce valid ID to prove their eligibility must pay the difference in the price of regular admission to attend the festival.

You can print your ticket, or, if you have a phone with a large screen, transfer the PDF file to it.

If you have a weekend pass, please do not remove your wristband overnight, you will need it to gain access for the next few days.

Ticket information:

All tickets for the festival are now sold out. The ticket office will no longer sell tickets.

All reserved and non-refundable tickets purchased in previous years have been renewed for this year’s event and are valid upon arrival at the event. You can find your tickets on the My Tickets page of your Ticketflap account after you log in. Older festival tickets are not valid, so be sure to log into Ticketflap and download the newly released tickets.
