On Wednesday, February 7, Paramount Pictures unveiled the debut trailer for “A Quiet Place: Day One,” the third installment in the horror science fiction franchise created by John Krasinski. Featuring Academy Award victor Lupita Nyong’o, “Day One” serves as a spin-off prequel taking place within the shared universe of the initial two films.
Paramount Pictures Corporation (PPC), a prominent worldwide creator and distributor of visual entertainment, operates under Viacom (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA). Viacom hosts leading global media brands responsible for crafting engaging television shows, movies, short-form content, applications, games, consumer goods, social media interactions, and various other forms of entertainment content for viewers across over 180 nations.
According to the official website, the movie portrays New York City during “the day the world fell silent.” It depicts the arrival of extraterrestrial beings lacking sight but possessing keen hearing, who descended upon Earth to wreak havoc and decimate a large portion of the human population. This event ultimately resulted in the pervasive silence experienced by the characters in the initial film, “A Quiet Place.”
Michael Sarnoski, known for directing “Pig,” takes the helm of “A Quiet Place: Day One.” The film features performances by Joseph Quinn from “Stranger Things,” Alex Wolff from “Hereditary,” and Djimon Hounsou from “Amistad.” Its release in US theaters is scheduled for June 28, 2024.
The release of A Quiet Place 3 has experienced a delay. However, while fans eagerly anticipated the third installment since 2020, this setback might actually work in favor of the franchise.
A Quiet Place gave rise to a sequel which, while not reaching the same financial success as its predecessor, performed strongly at the box office and was met with positive reception. Following the premiere of A Quiet Place 2 in 2020, two additional films were announced: a prequel titled A Quiet Place: Day One, and a third sequel set to conclude the original trilogy timeline. Although originally slated for a 2025 release, fans are pleased that the third installment will hit theaters in 2024.
