Audrey Hepburn’s former Swiss retreat, La Paisible, is officially on the market. Nestled in the picturesque town of Tolochenaz, Vaud, near Lake Geneva, this stunning 18th-century estate was home to the legendary actress for over 30 years. The serene manor, where Hepburn spent her final years, is now available for potential buyers seeking a slice of Hollywood history in the Swiss countryside.

La Paisible, meaning “The Peaceful” in French, served as Hepburn’s sanctuary away from the limelight. She purchased the estate in 1963 and lived there until her passing in 1993. The villa, spanning 21 rooms, exudes elegance and charm while offering modern comforts. Its Grade 2-listed status highlights its architectural and historical significance, making it a rare gem in the European real estate market.

The estate boasts a three-story main house with 12 bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and five fireplaces. Despite being updated in 2001, much of the villa retains its original character, with minimal renovations preserving its timeless appeal. The updates included modernizing the kitchen, remodeling the bathrooms, and enhancing the electrical systems while maintaining the property’s classic charm.

Set on over 40 acres of pristine land, La Paisible offers breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva. A highlight of the property is its expansive private park, which features century-old trees, manicured gardens, and a 50-foot heated swimming pool tucked away for privacy. The landscape provides a tranquil environment, ideal for relaxation and reflection.

The villa’s layout includes multiple entrances, with one leading to a separate two-bedroom guest apartment equipped with a fully functional kitchen. Additional features include two garages and ample outdoor parking for up to 15 vehicles, ensuring convenience for guests and residents alike.

Hepburn’s time at La Paisible was marked by a deep connection to nature and philanthropy. The actress raised her two sons, Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti, in the home, and she often found solace in the lush surroundings. Even after her passing, remnants of her presence remain, with her beloved white rose bushes—gifted for her 60th birthday—still flourishing in the garden.

The property has since changed hands, with the current owners, Jean-Marc and Katharina Beaujolin, maintaining its integrity while introducing subtle modern enhancements. Katharina, a devoted admirer of Hepburn, ensured that the estate retained its historical charm while accommodating contemporary living.

Currently listed by British realty firm Knight Frank, La Paisible is expected to attract high-profile buyers drawn to its unparalleled location, rich history, and refined elegance. While reports suggest an asking price of approximately $21 million, interested parties are encouraged to inquire directly with the listing agents.

For those seeking a blend of luxury, history, and natural beauty, Audrey Hepburn’s Swiss estate presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a home that once belonged to one of Hollywood’s most beloved icons.
