L’Oréal Groupe has launched an innovative exhibition in collaboration with the Louvre Museum, titled “De Toutes Beautés” (Of All Beauties), which opened on November 13, 2024. This unique initiative aims to explore the multifaceted concept of beauty through art, spanning over 10,000 years of history.
The exhibition features 108 selected artworks that reflect various beauty ideals, rituals, and societal transformations, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of how beauty has been perceived and represented across different cultures and eras.
The exhibition is structured around three central themes: beauty gestures and rituals, idealized visions of beauty, and the societal implications of beauty standards. Each theme invites visitors to engage with the artworks in a meaningful way, prompting reflections on how beauty ideals evolve and what they reveal about human societies.
For instance, attendees can examine ancient artifacts that highlight the beauty practices of civilizations long past or explore canonical artworks that embody the aesthetics of their time.
To enhance the visitor experience, L’Oréal and the Louvre have developed a specially designed web application. Accessible via QR codes placed throughout the exhibition, this app offers written and audio materials that complement the existing museum signage.
This technology allows for a more immersive experience, as visitors can hear stories from historical figures represented in the artworks. For example, Nefatiabet shares insights about her treasured beauty products that accompanied her into the afterlife, while the statue of Mercure Richelieu provides context about ancient Greek beauty ideals.
Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal Groupe, emphasized the company’s commitment to making beauty accessible to all. He stated, “At the heart of our purpose lies the desire to tell the story of beauty’s diverse and enduring role since the dawn of time.” This partnership with the Louvre reflects L’Oréal’s vision of integrating art and culture into its narrative about beauty, reinforcing its role as a leader in the cosmetics industry.
The “De Toutes Beautés” exhibition is not just an artistic endeavor; it is part of a broader cultural mediation program aimed at reaching younger audiences. The initiative includes plans for a web series set to launch in early 2025, which will further explore iconic works from this curated collection through engaging narratives designed for a new generation.
Laurence des Cars, President and Director of the Louvre Museum, expressed her excitement about this collaboration: “This unique journey invites visitors to experience the Louvre’s collections in a new light.” She highlighted how this exhibition not only showcases artistic masterpieces but also encourages dialogue about contemporary issues surrounding beauty standards.

As part of their ongoing partnership that will last until 2027, L’Oréal and the Louvre aim to challenge traditional notions of beauty and encourage inclusivity across cultures. By presenting diverse perspectives on beauty through art, they hope to foster a deeper understanding of its significance throughout history.
“De Toutes Beautés” represents a significant cultural collaboration between two iconic French institutions.
