2023 started off seemingly great for Carlo Aquino with his new romantic comedy film ‘I Love Lizzy’ showing this January 18, as well as his admission that he’s in a romantic relationship with Charlie Dizon, a Kapamilya rising star who’s famous for her roles in ‘Fan Girl’ and ‘Viral Scandal’.

However, fans were quick to express their dismay instead of support over the announcement, some even going as far to tell the 37-year-old actor-musician to leave the Star Magic Rise artist 11 years his junior alone.

“Don’t involve yourself in other people’s personal lives,” posted Carlo on his Instagram account, as if to clap back at the naysayers. This quote was from Vito Corleone, a main character in the classic novel ‘The Godfather’.

It was around January 2022 when he and Trina unfollowed each other on Instagram, with the latter and their daughter moving to a new home when February started. By April, Carlo indeed confirmed that they have split.

“At the end of the day, yung peace of mind mo importante. Kasi, kapag may toxicity sa buhay parang mas nadederail ka,” said the Kapamilya actor when asked about his learnings for the past year.

The buzz about Carlo and Charlie started when their photo beside each other looking sweet with arms overlapping in a group setting circulated around the internet last December 2022. After this, they were spotted at Halo Halo de Iloko located in San Fernando, La Union, which Carlo confirmed to be true.

That’s where they welcomed 2023 together with the Aquino family. According to the actor, his brother wasn’t able to return home from Sydney, Australia for 2 years because of the pandemic. When he’s finally able to, it turned into a major family reunion of sorts. This photo was also shared by the official Facebook page of the establishment last January 2.

Carlo’s ex-partner Trina appears to throw shade at the new couple in her recent post: “We lost someone whom I thought will be the man who will always keep us safe, someone who will protect us. But little did I know he will be the one who is very excited to remove us from his life.”
