The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, a prominent cultural event, kicked off its 2025 edition on April 11 (Weekend 1), featuring an impressive lineup of headliners and surprise performances. 

Lady Gaga, Green Day, Travis Scott, and Post Malone were the festival’s key headliners, with the event also attracting an array of A-list celebrities and fans. The festival’s star-studded atmosphere was amplified by several high-profile moments that grabbed headlines.

One of the most talked-about appearances was that of Bernie Sanders, who unexpectedly appeared onstage to introduce singer-songwriter Clairo. Sanders used the opportunity to address political issues, including climate change and women’s rights, urging younger generations to take an active role in addressing these challenges. His appearance was a clear sign of Coachella’s blending of music, culture, and social activism.

Another memorable moment came when Lorde made a surprise appearance during Charli XCX’s set, performing their collaboration “Girl, So Confusing.” Although Lorde has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years, her return to the stage sent fans into a frenzy. 

Additionally, “The White Lotus” stars, including Patrick Schwarzenegger and Tayme Thapthimthong, were spotted supporting LISA, the K-pop sensation who delivered her first solo performance at Coachella.

Benson Boone’s debut at Coachella was another highlight, as he brought out Queen’s legendary guitarist Brian May to perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” together. This collaboration was a thrilling moment for fans, with May expressing admiration for Boone’s talent. 

Travis Barker and MGK also added excitement to Coachella’s hip-hop scene by joining Three 6 Mafia during their set. The duo, along with Wiz Khalifa and Project Pat, created an unforgettable atmosphere on the Sahara stage.

Green Day’s performance was one of the most anticipated moments of the weekend, and they did not disappoint. Billie Joe Armstrong and the band performed some of their biggest hits, including “American Idiot,” “Minority,” and “Basket Case.”

Lady Gaga’s performance was another highlight of the festival. The pop icon delivered a theatrical set that blended her classic hits with new tracks from her album “Mayhem.” 

A standout moment occurred during her performance of “Poker Face,” where Gaga engaged in a dance battle on a giant red chessboard, showcasing her unique blend of pop and performance art.

Tyla’s debut performance at Coachella also stood out, as the South African singer captivated the crowd with her sultry voice and high-energy stage presence. The highlight of her set was a surprise appearance by Becky G, who joined Tyla for a performance of “On My Body.” 

The audience was further treated to a cover of Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat,” and Tyla ended her set by jumping into a kiddie pool during her song “Water.”

Throughout the weekend, Coachella 2025 delivered a blend of surprise appearances, political statements, and powerful performances. The festival once again proved its status as a cultural phenomenon, with artists from a variety of genres coming together to create unforgettable moments.
