The 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards delivered a vibrant celebration of Asia-Pacific storytelling, gathering some of the region’s brightest performers, creators, and productions under one roof at Singapore’s historic Capitol Theatre. This year’s showcase stood out not only for its record-breaking 331 contenders from 16 nations but also for the remarkable range of genres and performances that took center stage. From celebrated global stars to rising regional talents, the ceremony highlighted the growing international influence of Asia-Pacific screen content.

One of the most talked-about moments of the night was the presence of Jacob Elordi, who represented Australia for his commanding lead role in Prime Video’s The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Elordi’s nomination marked a significant milestone in the actor’s continued evolution from breakout sensation to respected dramatic performer. His appearance drew considerable anticipation, especially as the series itself emerged as a major contender in the best drama category. Equally noteworthy was the participation of two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, competing for her critically acclaimed performance in Apple TV+’s Disclaimer. Her nomination also marked Apple TV+’s debut at the AACA, underscoring the platform’s growing investment in Asia-Pacific narratives.

The acting categories delivered some of the night’s most competitive storylines. The best actress race unfolded as a thrilling thirteen-way contest featuring returning champion Jodi Sta. Maria of the Philippines, who sought to claim a rare second “Goddess.” Korea demonstrated its strength in performance-driven storytelling with Kim Minha nominated for her work in Pachinko Season 2, while veteran actress Youn Yuh-jung entered the supporting category for the same series. Their combined presence highlighted Pachinko’s enduring impact across the region, further supported by director Arvin Chen representing Taiwan in the best direction (fiction) category.
Another standout moment came from the drama series competition, which showcased an impressive breadth of productions from across Asia. China’s Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty: To The West, India’s Suzhal – The Vortex Season 2, and Korea’s When Life Gives You Tangerines joined Australia’s The Narrow Road to the Deep North in a category packed with cultural depth and stylistic variety. Singapore also enjoyed a strong spotlight as Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story earned multiple nominations, including recognition for young standout Ivory Chia, whose supporting role drew warm applause from the audience.

Regional strength was equally visible in the dominance of Netflix in scripted categories, particularly in India and Thailand. India’s Black Warrant impressed with six National Wins, while Thailand’s Mad Unicorn secured five nominations, reflecting the platform’s wide reach and influence. Australia’s How To Make Gravy earned applause for its three National Wins, and India’s Traitors continued its strong awards-season trajectory with four wins heading into the ceremony. Star power shone brightly with Li Xian, Bai Lu, and Park Bo-gum representing their respective nations and adding further prestige to an already distinguished lineup.
Overall, the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards delivered a memorable celebration of excellence, reinforcing the region’s creative momentum and its growing global appeal.
