As 2025 begins, the fashion world is brimming with anticipation for the arrival of several new creative directors at some of the most prestigious luxury houses. After months of uncertainty and transitions, these debutants are poised to make their mark on the industry.
The beginning of the year promises to bring fresh perspectives to iconic brands, as fashion enthusiasts eagerly await the new directions these creative minds will take.
One of the most highly anticipated shows is at Lanvin, where Peter Copping will present his first collection as creative director. Copping, who took the role in June 2024, has a wealth of experience from his time at Nina Ricci and other high-end fashion houses.
Lanvin, absent from Paris Fashion Week since March 2023, will return with a co-ed runway show on January 26, 2025. This marks a significant moment for the Parisian house, now owned by the Lanvin Group, as Copping’s debut promises to bring a new energy to the brand.
At Calvin Klein, Veronica Leoni takes the helm after a six-year absence from New York Fashion Week. Leoni, known for her work with Jil Sander, Celine, and Moncler, will unveil her first collection for the label on February 7, 2025. Her appointment marks a fresh start for Calvin Klein, with Leoni expected to introduce a refined minimalist style that reflects the brand’s American roots.
Alberta Ferretti will also see a shift in leadership, with Lorenzo Serafini stepping in as creative director. Serafini, previously in charge of Philosophy, takes over from the founder, Alberta Ferretti, who remains vice-president of Aeffe. Serafini’s debut collection, set to debut in Milan this February, will merge the Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy lines, offering a modern look for the brand.
In Milan, Blumarine will showcase the work of David Koma in February. Koma, known for his bold, dramatic designs, replaces Walter Chiapponi, whose tenure at the brand was brief. Koma’s debut is expected to bring a new, exciting direction to the Italian label.
In Paris, Sarah Burton will debut at Givenchy in March 2025. Burton, who spent her entire career at Alexander McQueen before joining Givenchy in 2023, is expected to bring her sophisticated, elegant design sensibility to the LVMH-owned brand. Her appointment marks a fresh chapter for Givenchy after the departure of Matthew M. Williams.
Lastly, Chanel will experience a creative shift with Matthieu Blazy taking over from Virginie Viard. Blazy’s appointment comes after months of rumors and anticipation, and his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week for Spring-Summer 2026 is expected to be one of the most significant fashion moments of the year. Blazy, who inherits the legacy of Karl Lagerfeld, will look to modernize the house while honoring its timeless appeal.
With these fresh faces at the helm, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for fashion, as new creative directors reshape their brands and set new trends for the industry.
