The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Rebisco Food Group have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to enhance support for learning programs in public schools through the REBISCOVER Learning Program.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara, together with Mr. Geronimo R. Kamus, President of Rebisco Biscuit Corporation; Mr. Jonathan C. Ng, President of Suncrest Foods Incorporated, SFI Multimix Corporation, and Multirich Foods Corporation; and Mr. David T. Yuyucheng, President of SPI Corporation, led the signing ceremony.

This partnership aims to bolster the development of curriculum-aligned learning materials, construct school buildings and canteens, and support key DepEd initiatives such as Brigada Eskwela, the School-Based Feeding Program, and the celebration of National Teachers’ Day.The collaboration is expected to make a lasting impact by supporting curriculum-aligned materials, building and restoring classrooms and school canteens, and contributing to key initiatives like Brigada Eskwela, the School-Based Feeding Program, and National Teachers’ Day.

In his remarks, Secretary Angara expressed his gratitude to the Rebisco Food Group for their continued support of the department’s mission, and hoped more private partners will follow suit in reinforcing basic education programs.

“Today is a day of many blessings, and we are deeply grateful for your unwavering commitment to the Department of Education and the future of our youth,” said Secretary Angara. “Your longstanding dedication to education highlights the strength of our partnership. Your support enables us to address the many challenges we face in delivering quality education to our learners and providing assistance to our teachers,” he added.

The REBISCOVER Learning Program is comprised of five key components:

RebisCOMPLEMENT:  Development of learning materials in both printed and digital formats.

RebisCONSTRUCT/RebisCONVERT:  Construction or restoration of classrooms and service facilities.

RebisCOMMUNITY:  Outreach programs, including feeding programs, medical missions, and gift-giving initiatives.

RebisCOMMEND/RebisCOMMENDATION:  Appreciation and recognition of educators during National Teachers’ Day.

RebisCONGRESS: Support for sports development through training sessions for volleyball coaches and players.

“With Secretary Angara’s visionary leadership, we are excited about the future, not just for our children but for the country as a whole,” said Mr. Kamus during the ceremony.

The event also featured a ceremonial volleyball toss between Secretary Angara, Mr. Ng, and Creamline Cool Smashers players Michelle Gumabao, Tots Carlos, and Kyle Negrito. This symbolic gesture marked the partnership between DepEd and SFI Multimix Corporation, the makers of Creamline Creamery Ice Cream, who advocate for the promotion of volleyball in the Philippines.
