Recently separated from Daniel Padilla amidst controversy, Kathryn Bernardo is determined to keep her commitment of staying with her talent agency and home network which still lacks a franchise even to this day.
Hosted by her friend Dimples Romana, Kathryn inked renewal of contract with ABS-CBN and its talent arm management Star Magic, on Friday, February 2.
Present were Chief Executive Officer and President Carlo Katigbak, Chairman Mark Lopez, Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, Head of Star Magic and Entertainment Production Laurenti Dyogi, Head of ABS-CBN Films Kriz Gazmen, Chief Finance Officer Rick Tan, at Head of Star Magic Marketing and Senior Talent Manager Alan Real.
Upon signing, Kathryn dispelled rumors that she would leave Star Magic and move to Crown Artist Management, owned by Maja Salvador and Rambo Nunez.
Kathryn expressed that she couldn’t envision herself not working alongside the people behind ABS-CBN, so she stated that she is fulfilling her promise to the company to remain a Kapamilya since it lost its franchise until it gets renewed.
“I remember 2020, I made a promise. Sinabi ko sa ABS-CBN na ‘di kita iiwan at nandito lang ako hanggang makabangon ka muli. And today, here I am fulfilling that promise,” Kathryn said.
“Ang daming nangyari sa ABS-CBN but mahal ko eh. Mahal ko sobra ‘yong kompanya. Together we will all rise despite the challenges, we’ll be stronger, even better,” she added.
She reiterated that the company is very supportive in all decisions that she had chosen last year. She considered it as her second home, and she was very grateful to the company that gave her big breaks and great projects, making her a superstar of her generation.
“To my bosses, you’re like a family to me, and my friends. Itong signing ng contract na ito… is because I trusted you more than anybody when it comes to work. I’m signing this contract to seal the friendship. Hindi ako mag-i-stay dito sa ABS-CBN kung wala kayo… Hindi ako makakatulog kapag nakita ko sila at iniwan ko sila, hindi ko kaya… Kaya thank you for making time to know me, understand me, and thank you for supporting my decisions in everything that I do.”
Kathryn’s contract renewal became extra special because some of those close to her—from family members, bosses, co-workers, fans, friends and people behind the brands that endorse her—sent messages to her.
Kathryn became emotional when she mentioned that 2023 had been challenging for her because it was when she met her true friends in the industry. Her manager and own mother, Min Bernardo, also got emotional.
“Last year was a very, very hard time for me. It’s so hard to find real friends in the industry. Ni-prove lang nila na possible din na makahanap ka ng mabubuting tao sa industriya on and off cam…”
