Sad news everyone. Former President Benigno Aquino III has passed away. Noynoy was brought to Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City on June 24 and died at the age of 61.
In a statement made by his sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada on Thursday afternoon at Heritage Park, he died peacefully in his sleep and was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m. due to renal disease secondary to diabetes.
One may note that he has dealt with health issues since 2019. He had also been undergoing dialysis for five months and had undergone a heart procedure.
Noynoy’s allies and loved ones also arrived at the hospital on the day of his passing to pay their respects.
Wala siyang itinira.”
Fashion stylist Liz Uy, who was once romantically linked to the former President, paid tribute by posting a photo of him with the caption, ‘Rest In Peace.’
Korina Sanchez expressed her grief by uploading an image on Noynoy and wrote, “Sad day. Gone too soon. Many presidents have come and gone. But PNOY I knew. Thank you for your friendship. Most of all, gratitude for service to our country. Godspeed. Bon voyage. Be happy in eternity with your parents, your fellow Filipino heroes.”
Even Senator Bong Go issued a statement on Pnoy’s passing and said, “I mourn the untimely passing today of former President Benigno “Noynoy’ Aquino III. I sincerely and deeply condole with his family and friends.”
The lawmaker added, “ I join a grateful nation in prayers for the eternal repose of his soul, and for the strength of his family in grief. May the late President’s siblings and relatives find comfort in the thought that we are thankful to him, for having dedicated his life in the service of the country and our people.”
Noynoy was the only son of the late president Corazon Aquino and Senator Benigno Aquino Jr, both hallowed for trying to restore democracy during the 20-year authoritarian rule of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
It can be recalled that he served as the 15th president of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016.
