Francis Libiran amazes with modern barong Tagalog creation for Filipino Olympic boxers

The Barong Tagalog designs by renowned Filipino designer Francis Libiran for Filipino Olympic boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam have garnered reactions and comments from netizens. These designs are for the 2024 Olympics to be held in Paris, France.

“Proudly representing the Philippines at the Paris 2024 Olympics, boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will carry the Philippine flag in exquisite barongs designed by Francis Libiran,” he said in an Instagram post.

“Crafted from piña-jusi fabric and featuring a detachable silk organdy sling with embroidered sun rays and Pintados-inspired warrior patterns, these barongs symbolize bravery and national pride. đŸ‡”đŸ‡­ ✚ On the detail, every element of the design showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines,” he added. 

Many admired and praised Libiran’s genius in clothing design.

Tokyo Olympics silver medalists Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam have been chosen as the Philippines’ flag-bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will take place on July 26. Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino announced this at a POC briefing on Monday, June 17.

Meanwhile, Francis Libiran is a distinguished Filipino fashion designer renowned for his intricate and luxurious designs, often incorporating traditional Filipino elements with contemporary aesthetics.
