The story of the exorcism of the Gerasene demoniac is one of the most striking miracles recorded in the Bible. The man’s response is equally significant. Rather than allowing him to travel alongside the disciples, Jesus instructed him to return home and tell others what the Lord had done for him.

Jesus said, as written in Mark 5:19, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

His testimony became the beginning of a witness throughout the Decapolis, showing that every transformed life has the potential to point others toward God.

Our Response Is to Trust and Share His Work

The people of Gerasa responded to the miracle with fear and asked Jesus to leave. The healed man responded with gratitude and obedience. These contrasting reactions invite us to examine our own hearts.

Do we allow fear to keep us from following Christ, or do we respond with faith when we see God’s work in our lives?
