It can be recalled that the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians continue to escalate, as rockets streamed out of Gaza and Israel, wreaking havoc and violence.

The Hollywood actress took to her Twitter account and said, ““My heart breaks. My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long. Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation. Our neighbors deserve the same. I pray for the victims and their families, I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we could live side by side in peace. I pray for better days.”

The star drew mixed reactions from Netizens, and one even stated, “While I’m sure that what you said is a sincere statement, you could have used the word ‘Palestine’ and recognized Israel’s own sin. But what hurts my heart too, as a young South African, is to see Israel perpetuate the sins of Aparthied.”

One also wrote, “While I can understand the reason why Gal Gadot said what she said, the fact that she chose her own nationality above humanity is quite appalling. I think it is tone-deaf and utterly insensitive, but it should not hinder her career going forward.”

Another netizen stressed, “I find it truly amazing that Gal Gadot was, just 2 days ago, praised by literally everyone for standing up to misogyny. But now an increasing number of people are now calling her the devil for the crime of being Israeli. Another case of the internet going from ‘I love you’ to ‘die.’”

Someone also praised the actress for speaking her mind and said, “Support for Gal Gadot. She has done nothing wrong. Who are we to judge her. We have not been through what she has been through. She is a hero.”

One may note that the Hollywood star was born in Israel and served as a soldier for two years in the Israel Defense Forces.
