Following its launch in May 2026, heART & Gallery is pleased to announce its third group exhibition at its multi-storey venue in Hong Kong’s Island East. Showcasing around 100 works by 17 acclaimed and emerging artists from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Taiwan, the exhibition offers a dynamic cultural and generational dialogue across diverse mediums and practices. Running through to 29 November 2026, it celebrates a continuous lineage of creativity unbounded by age, border, or background.

Guided by its founding motto, “Start From Heart” (由心出發), heART & Gallery transcends conventional commercial boundaries through a philanthropic model, aiming to foster an open, inclusive ecosystem. Dedicated to providing sustainable support to Chinese artists, the gallery serves as an open platform to showcase their talent and share their artistic visions with art lovers and collectors alike.

Featuring works by Anthony Chan, Chan Keng Tin, Chui Tak Yi, Chui Tze Hung, Bonnie Kwan, Zungman Law, Lemoi, Lian Wei Peng, Liu Cheng Mui, Liu Tung Mui, Lu Yi Fei, Ou Da Wei, Pan Li, Hermann Siu, John Wong, Wong Shun Kit, and Wu Guan Zhen, When East Meets Art brings together a remarkably diverse lineup of artists. The showcase highlights a rich spectrum of artistic practices and journeys—from celebrated masters actively practising into their golden years, to mid-career figures, emerging voices, self-taught painters, and professionals who discovered their calling later in life after distinguished pursuits in other disciplines.

Occupying three floors, the exhibition presents multi-layered experiences for visitors, beginning with ink traditions and contemporary abstraction, before opening up to mixed media, digital innovations, and expressive healing art.

Chui Tze Hung’s Rising Sun, an acrylic-on-paper painting by the 90-year-old pioneer of the New Ink movement, fuses Western abstraction with traditional Chinese brushwork, translating the artist’s visual memories of his daily studio walks into a timeless landscape. Chui Tak Yi’s Colours of Autumn translates his background in medicine into dynamic abstract expressionism, employing clinical instruments—such as syringes and needles—to apply energetic splatters of ink and acrylic. Reinterpreting classical Northern Song Dynasty bamboo traditions, Pan Li—winner of the 2025 UOB Ink Art of the Year Award—presents Homage to Wen Tong #1, rendering vibrant mineral blues and greens against a deep black ground. Educated in Mainland China and the former Soviet Union, Liu Cheng Mui depicts a galloping racehorse and its jockey in Grand Gold Tack with a high-saturation palette against fiery washes of colour, turning a fleeting moment into a meditation on focus and momentum. Multidisciplinary architect Zungman Law deconstructs metallic leaf foils on wood panels in He Qi, synthesising Shenzhen’s urban silhouette with a realisation of human existence drawn from Hong Kong’s glowing nighttime landscape. Lian Wei Peng’s mixed-media piece Cosmic Veins of the Soul wrinkles and stacks xuan paper with gold tones and mineral pigments to enshrine the individual’s internal universe. Together, these highlighted works reflect an extraordinary breadth of technical mastery, material experimentation, and personal reflection.

Details of all participating artists and their selected artworks can be found in the appendix.

A Mission-Driven Art Space Built From the Heart

Conceived from a pure passion for art appreciation and a commitment to support, nurture, and uplift Chinese artists from every corner of the world, heART & Gallery honours its founding motto by cultivating an accessible, engaging hub for artists, art enthusiasts and collectors. Complementing its core programming, the space will also engage in cross-gallery collaborations for distinct, co-curated exhibitions.

Conveniently located in Chai Wan, the venue is a short three-minute walk from the MTR station. Designed with an inviting, residential aesthetic, the multi-storey space seamlessly bridges fine art with everyday life. Artworks are thoughtfully handpicked with home environments in mind, ensuring that collectors can live alongside art that brings daily joy and inspiration. Visitors are invited to explore the collection across three specialised levels:

  • G/F — The Club House: A warm, social entry point for creative exchanges.
  • 3/F — Main Hall & Lounge: The primary exhibition floor designed for quiet contemplation and appreciation.
  • 4/F — The Fun Hall & Terrace Garden: An energetic space showcasing works by emerging artists alongside digital creations, complemented by an open-air terrace garden.

Each floor carries its own distinct character, offering a journey across different mediums, styles, and price points—ensuring that whether one is a first-time buyer or a seasoned connoisseur, there is something to discover.

heART & Gallery operates on a philanthropic model where proceeds from artwork sales are reinvested into the art community and directed towards broader society. After covering essential operating costs, all surplus revenue is allocated to artist sponsorships as well as charitable causes, ensuring every acquisition gives back. Demonstrating this commitment, the gallery recently supported the joint charity auction by The WEMP Foundation and Spring Blooms through the purchase and subsequent donation of a work by Lian Wei Peng, which was successfully acquired by a collector, with all proceeds benefiting children in need in Mainland China.

“We believe art belongs to everyone,” says Ruby Li, Gallery Director of heART & Gallery. “By removing commercial pressure, our mission-driven platform enables seasoned artists and new talents to converse freely, creating a welcoming community space where artistic growth is supported and engagement from art lovers is encouraged.”
