How to Lose Pandemic Weight

After more than a year of going through a pandemic, many are eager to take back control over their lifestyles. Having to stay indoors and change plans was such a sudden shift for many, causing delays when it comes travels, work and even personal goals.

It’s important to note that many people have experienced unwanted weight gains and losses during the past year, with the rapid change in eating habits and stress of the current events becoming huge factors in our daily lives.

Below are some things to keep in mind as we continue to face the pandemic head-on:

Maintain healthy habits you already have

While many of us are still stuck at home, getting healthier food might have been easier, since cooking at home is more encouraged rather than ordering a bunch of fast food. And if you’re not in the mood, buying ready-to-use items for a healthy meal is also a great option.

Many have also lessened their visits to different bars and restaurants, which also decreased their alcohol consumption. This is a good start to discipline yourself in doing so. Consistency is key!

Prepare a list for your grocery runs

While living at home lets us see the benefits of cooking for ourselves, mindless consumption is also very tempting. We can’t help but eat the sugary food and snacks we have around the house.

If we’re intent on getting in shape, it pays to keep a list whenever we plan on going grocery shopping, so we have a clear picture of how our diets should be, and so that we can be sure we’re not buying things that we know are too bad for our health.

Stick to a specific eating schedule

Being indoors also lets us have food available to us at any time. When it comes to reaching our desired body weight, setting the proper time to eat and sticking to the schedule you made for yourself will be much more rewarding. Some also follow types of diets such as intermittent fasting, and with the right planning, getting the results you want is within your arm’s reach.

Set aside time for a good exercise

While gyms might still not be an option for many, it’s still great to have more time to exercise at home, since many are now working in the house, setting aside time for short exercises during lunch breaks or in the morning can contribute to your personal goal of reaching your desired weight.

Prepping for an exercise surely isn’t an easy feat, but putting on clothes that encourage you to move about and simply starting small by doing moderate level exercises are always helpful. Baby steps!

Go easy on yourself

Sometimes you might feel the pressure of losing the extra weight you gained during the pandemic, especially when you scroll through your social media and see everyone trying their hardest to get fit.

It’s worth noting that managing your stress and triggers are vital to your overall wellness, and being overwhelmed by the pressure to get in shape as fast as possible will only burden you with anxiety and bad decisions when it comes to weight management. Trust the process, and make the journey of getting fit fun for you!
