The “Ligawan 2024 Valentine Series” mini concert of actor-singer Ian Veneracion held on February 16, 2024, at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center was successful.
Last February 9, “Ligawan” was also held successfully in Tuguegarao City.
“Ready for an extra dose of love this February? Join me, for a special early Valentine’s celebration with our ‘LIGAWAN: A Valentine Series’ in Tuguegarao and Baguio! Relive stories of love and courtship from before and today through enchanting music,” Ian posted last January 21, inviting his fans, supporters, and netizens to buy tickets, be courted, and be serenaded by him.
The Ninuno music video was played before Ian Veneracion’s performance. Prior to taking the stage, three men sang onstage. Fans were equipped with long glow sticks, while others held glow sticks shaped like hearts. When Veneracion finally appeared onstage wearing a gray blazer, black shirt, and pants, fans erupted in screams.
He playfully teased fans by descending from the stage to greet them while singing his song, insisting that Valentine’s Day requires hugs, “Valentines ‘to. Kailangan may hugs,” he said.
As he came down, he embraced fans, causing a frenzy of excitement. Some even joined him onstage when he returned. Veneracion captivated fans with his smooth voice, effortlessly hitting high notes, which further impressed the audience. The live band also delivered a stellar performance. Additionally, Veneracion shared his own love story with the audience.
“Marami kasing iba-ibang love stories diyan eh,” Ian said.
“Meron diyan ‘yong magkaibigan lang for a long time, walang malisya, tapos eventually nagkaka-developan. May malisya na pala, mga ganiyan. Meron naman love at first sight, ‘di ba? So maraming, maraming iba-ibang klase. Not one is better than the other, eh iba-iba naman ang love story natin.”
“Kaya ako, gusto ko sanang ikuwento sa inyo ‘yong ako, ‘yong personal love story ko. ‘Yong buhay ko,” shortly after, Ian delivered a witty remark.
“Kasi lahat ng love stories natin, unique… unique naman ‘di ba? So, ganito ‘yong kuwentong ‘yon. I was in a friend’s house. I’m about 18 years old. And then, makulit ako no’n eh, medyo maloko ‘ko, lagi akong naghahanap ng kung sinong kukulitin. So, there was a shoe box of calling cards, and I saw one. It stood out. Sabi ko, ‘Sino ‘to? Parang president ng student council, sino ‘to?’ Sabi ng friend ko, ‘Hay naku huwag ‘yan, masungit ‘yan…”
But Ian reportedly didn’t back down. He took her number and called the landline of the woman who caught his attention. He mentioned his name, assuming that he would immediately grab her attention, but he was apparently hung up on by the person on the other end of the line.
“Sabi niya ‘Sino ‘to?’ Sabi ko, ‘Si Ian…’ tapos sabi niya, ‘Ian who?’ Akala ko madadala ko sa charm, you know, baka sakaling madaan sa pa-cute, kaya sabi ko ‘Ian Veneracion.’ Tapos ‘yong reaction niya, wala, dedma, sabi niya ‘Ah, marami akong ginagawa,’ binagsakan ako ng telepono. Loko ‘to ah, masungit.”
Ian felt challenged more to get to know the mentioned woman even better. He knew that he really wanted to know this woman. Ian didn’t mention who the woman was who snubbed him. After sharing, Ian resumed singing again.
Ian is one of the acclaimed “heartthrobs” of Philippine showbiz because despite his age and having his own family, he continues to be admired and adored for his looks and charisma.
