Emotions are soaring for “Inside Out 2!”
“Inside Out 2” achieved the third-highest opening day in the Philippines, surpassed only by “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019 and “Avengers: Infinity War” in 2018. Disney Southeast Asia – Philippines confirmed to GMA News Online that the Disney and Pixar collaboration film, released in Philippine cinemas on Wednesday, amassed an impressive P88.8 million in box office sales.
The first movie “Inside Out” which premiered in 2015, is a coming-of-age movie that explores the inner turmoil within a girl’s mind. It introduced the characters Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear, and Sadness. Directed by Pete Docter, this film continues to resonate deeply with audiences of all ages, not only for its captivating storytelling and stunning animation but also for its profound exploration of emotions and mental health. It introduces us to Riley’s mind, where personified emotions—navigate her daily life and memories from a control center.
The narrative unfolds as Joy and Sadness embark on a journey through Riley’s mind, encountering the complexities of memory, personality formation, and emotional development along the way. This imaginative concept serves as a powerful metaphor for understanding the human psyche and the intricacies of emotional well-being.
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, who have been efficiently managing everything, are uncertain about how to react when Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment make their appearance.
Inside Out 2 is set to become the top film opening of 2024 in the Philippines, unless upcoming R-rated comic book movies like “Deadpool and Wolverine” and “Joker: Folie à Deux” manage to achieve substantial sales. While more blockbusters are expected later in 2024, the movie is currently leading in box office sales and aims to maintain its strong start.
