Ellen Adarna had been a hot topic in the past weeks, due to what had transpired on the set of the sitcom John En Ellen, a show on TV5 which John Estrada stars in. Story goes that Ellen Adarna, who was fiming during the last taping day, had allegedly walked out of the set.

According to PEP.ph, a source told them that it happened June 25, 2021, which was during the season 2 of the television show John En Ellen at a resort in Laiya, Batangas. It has also been said that the locked-in taping had begun on June 20, and Ellen had been dropped off by her fiance Derek Ramsay. Her fiance was stated to also have stayed with her during this time, and by June 25 Ellen was claimed to have announced that she only had to stay at 12 o’clock because she and Derek had to go. Apparently, Ellen’s scenes were not done on time as the production staff had to eat, and by 1pm, Ellen had already left.

This has caused a surprise reaction among the crew, from the artists to the producers, since Ellen’s scenes had not been finished. John Estrada, who was a close of friend of Ellen Adarna’s fiance Derek, had reportedly said not to spread the issue since she may have had her reasons for leaving early. This did not come true, however, since there was already talks on social media of what had happened, which caused netizens to wonder about her attitude during the set.

Days later, Pep.ph had reached out to John Estradra who replied:
“Hindi totoo nag-walkout…pack up na talaga siya nun.” He also added that it is however true that Ellen was planning to leave the show due to family being her priority.

When they talked to Derek, he replied not knowing any issue about Ellen walking out. “Ang alam ko lang, binigyan siya ng 12 o’clock lunchtime… lumagpas pa nga ng lunch, tapos last eksena na niya, umuwi na siya. Ako pa nga ang nag-drive sa kanya pauwi.”

Ellen’s manager Danel Calixto also released a statement, denying that any attitude problem issues was the cause of her not returning to the show. “While it is true that Ms. Adarna will not be returning to John en Ellen, it was a decision made by us, and not by the production team because of her alleged ‘attitude problem.’ Ms. Adarna has shown over the years during her time in local showbiz that she is a professional, loyal and hardworking team player who values everyone’s time, including her own.”

He added: “In fact, Ms. Adarna’s leading man and line producer of the show, Mr. John Estrada, has issued a statement, saying that Ms. Adarna did not walk out from taping. His understanding was that Ms. Adarna was already done with the shoot that day.”

However, when talking to Pep.ph, comedian Long Mejia had a different story. He stated that the actress showcased unprofessionalism. “Sa totoo lang, ako ang artista na hindi masyadong pinupuna ang lahat. Pero kapag mali na pala yung ginagawa, makakasagot ka talaga. Ngayon lang ako nakaranas nang ganyan…” According to Long, the sexy actress was “unprofessional.” “Ang salita niya lang sa isang production staff na nadaanan niya, ‘Bye!’ Ano ‘yon?” he said. “Hindi naman kami nagkikikibo, pero kapag ganito ang nangyari, nakaapekto sa show namin. Napakaraming tao ngayon ang nangangailangan ng trabaho dahil sa kagagawan niya.”

However, Long apologized hours later for his statements via video. He said through Pep.ph: “Ellen… Ako ay tiklop-tuhod na humihingi sa iyo ng pasensya. Pasensya ka na. Huwag ka magagalit sa akin. Medyo hindi ko alam kung ano ang mga pangyayari. “Kung may nasabi man ako dun sa PEP Talk, pagpasensyahan mo na ako. Ako ay humihingi ng tawad.” He stated that he had no idea what Ellen and the production staff had talked about her leaving prior. “E, nakapagsalita ako sa PEP Talk nang wala palang basehan kung anong nangyayari dahil hindi nasabi sa akin ng production. Kaya kay Ellen Adarna, kaibigan naman kita Ellen, sabi ko nga.”

Soon enough, Ellen finally breaks her silence through social media. 

She stated through an Instagram comment: “There is what u call the LAW and IATF protocols and because of covid, it must be strictly implemented. I know my rights and before you say and assume, know your rights too so you can set limits and boundaries ([its good and healthy for you).”

She continued: “Violating IATF protocols and stripping me of my rights is unprofessional and unethical. I was promised a cutoff and even I extended it for another hour para walang masabi [so that they don’t complain] (I have receipts to prove this too) I guess someone wasnt informed of some crucial information.”

She then tagged director Willy Cuevas and said: “I think its just right to honour your word and dont make promises you cant keep. Bottom line, we just have different priorities and my health and safety is # 1.”

When Pep.ph talked to the engaged couple once again, Ellen said she felt traumatized and would file a complaint to the company who took their swab test on the set, since she and her assistant had false positive results. She said: “”Sinaksakan ako ng positive control stick. Yung stick shouldn’t be used on people or anything because it has… it’s a red stick only, Abbott has it. “Nalaman na lang namin, kasi ako, mahilig mag-video pag sina-swab ako. When we got here, di ba, nag-false positive ako dun? When we got home, tapos nagpa-PCR test na ako dito sa bahay. “When the nurse saw the video, she said, ‘Magpa-positive ka talaga kasi what they used was a positive control stick.’ So, malay ba namin na merong ganun, right?”

Derek also stated that Ellen does plan to have a complaint against the production of John En Ellen at IATF due to allegedly violating safety protocols.

Soon, news broke when Derek, on Ogie Diaz’s vlog stated that he is no longer friends with John Estrada. “Hindi ko siya kaaway. Hindi ko siya kaibigan. He’s no longer a friend of mine.” He added: “I just don’t want to associate myself with John. “Magsisinungaling ako kung [sinabi ko na] walang kinalaman ‘yung nangyari kay Ellen, pero ‘yun yung icing on the cake…’Yun ang nag-push sa akin na enough is enough.”

On August 11, John responds to the issue. Via Ogie Diaz, he released his statement: “Tinuring ko siyang parang kapatid ko. Kung ganun lang tingin niya sa pagkakaibigan namin e wala akong magagawa.”
