Last May 15, the talk of the town was John Lloyd Cruz as he was announced to be under new management, Crown Artist Management (CAM). In the agency’s Instagram was a post of the acclaimed actor with the caption: “We are happy to share with you the CAMback of the one and only John Lloyd Cruz, now under Crown Artist Management.”

It’s worth recalling that the 37-year-old actor took an indefinite hiatus last 2017. Nonetheless, his personal life also had a lot of things going on, with him and actress Ellen Adarna having a son in 2018.

In his interview with Mega, the heartthrob opened up about being a father. He said: “Hindi siya ganun kadali. Parang pang pelikula lang pala yung ano—yung parang nalaman mo parang, ‘Magiging tatay na ako!’. Para sa akin hindi. I mean, kung ano yung nangyari sa akin, hindi. To each its own. Baka naman sa iba, totoo ‘yun and you can never tell kung ‘yun ay totoo o hindi. Okay yan, ‘yung nangyari sayo. Pero para sa akin… We wanted it eh. Alam naman na namin na it was going to happen.”

With many things that happened during the past four years for the actor, fans were rarely granted with his public appearances. Some examples were through a small role in the December 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival entry titled Culion. He was also announced to be part of Servando Magdamag last year, a film directed by Lav Diaz.

“Nakakaubos iyong dine-demand ng ganitong trabaho. And bilang creator, gusto mong makapagbigay lagi ng something worth their time. And kung ubos ka, medyo mahihirapan kang mag-deliver,” John Lloyd even once opened up during his interview with Boy Abunda in November of last year about his absence in showbiz.

And this time, it indeed seems the best time for his comeback. As expected, his fans welcomed him back with open arms.

Last June 6, John Lloyd appeared live in public once again for an event for online shopping platform Shopee. The actor admitted that he was nervous but excited, after having performed a song titled “Yakap” for the audience, with Wowowin host Willie Revillame saying, “Welcome back sa industriya kung saan ka nagsimula at alam kong dito tayo magtatapos rin. Welcome back John Lloyd Cruz!”

And the next day, John Lloyd thanks “Yakap” songwriter Vehnee Saturno as he posted a photo of the event.

Welcome back, JLC!
