Kathryn Bernardo traveled to Seoul, South Korea, where she was honored with the Outstanding Asian Star award at the Seoul International Drama Awards for her exceptional portrayal in the ABS-CBN drama series “2 Good 2 Be True.”
The “A Very Good Girl” star appeared absolutely ethereal in her Martin Bautista-designed white gown while strolling down the red carpet and subsequently delivering her speech onstage. In her speech, Kathryn conveyed the immense significance of her nomination and recognition by a prestigious award-giving body, emphasizing the magnitude of the achievement.
“When I initially found out about this nomination and recognition for my craft from such an esteemed award giving body, that in itself is already a win for me,” Kathryn said. “But being here tonight, personally receiving this award, along with my fellow awardees from Asia, I’m so overwhelmed and still feels surreal.”
Kathryn went on to express her gratitude to the entire “2 Good 2 Be True” team, with whom she shared the award. She also extended special recognition to some of the exceptional individuals behind the show, including directors Mae Cruz-Alviar and Paco Sta. Maria, the talented writing team led by Denise O’Hara, and her co-stars Daniel Padilla and the esteemed Ronaldo Valdez.
She also dedicated the award to the nurses and health care workers. During the peak of the pandemic, Bernardo portrayed Alyson, a nurse tending to an elderly patient suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease in the said teleseries that made its debut in May 2022, and now, can be binge-watched on Netflix.
“I fell in love with this project because of the storyline. It’s always more than just about sharing a love story for our audience, but also spreading awareness on Alzheimer’s Disease and educating people about those who struggle and how we can offer them the best support,” Kathryn said.
“So this project made me appreciate our nurses and healthcare workers. It was more than just another TV show for me. To my fans from the Philippines, this is for you,” she mentioned. “You guys are a gem and I appreciate each and every one of you.”
Aside from Netflix, Kathryn aspires for ongoing partnerships that will consistently produce top-tier projects accessible to a global audience, not limited to Filipinos alone. Kath also expressed her deep sense of pride and humility as she stood on that platform, serving as a representative of Filipino talent and proudly bearing her Filipino identity. She emphasized the immense significance of this moment to her.
“2 Good 2 Be True is the first-ever project of ABS-CBN and Netflix, and I hope that we can continue to produce world-class projects not just for Filipinos but for the whole world to see,” she emphasized. “I am so proud and humbled to be on the stage representing Filipino talent and being a Filipino. This means so much to me.”
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Daniel Padilla conveyed his deep admiration and pride for his reel and real-life partner, stating that no one else is more deserving of his pride than his girlfriend. “For the entire ‘2 Good 2 be True’ cast it is an achievement. Sa lahat ng dedikasyon binibigay niya sa trabaho, walang mas deserving pa kung hindi si Kathryn lang,” Daniel emphasized.
According to a Philippine Star report, Daniel expressed that his sense of pride originated from the fact that a Filipina had received the mentioned award. “I’m very proud. Siyempre representative ng Philippines,” he added.
