March on Saturday Night Live is set to be a spectacle, with two big names taking the stage—Shane Gillis on March 1 and Lady Gaga on March 8. The announcement follows the show’s star-studded 50th-anniversary celebration, which became NBC’s most-watched primetime entertainment telecast in five years.

On March 1, comedian Shane Gillis will make his second appearance as SNL host, joined by musical guest Tate McRae. Gillis’ return to SNL is particularly notable given his history with the show.

Originally hired as a cast member in 2019, he was dismissed before making his debut due to the resurfacing of past controversial remarks. Despite the setback, Gillis has since built a successful comedy career, headlining stand-up tours and co-creating the Netflix series Tires, which is set to return for a second season later this year.

McRae, the Canadian singer-songwriter known for hits like Greedy and You Broke Me First, will take the stage to perform songs from her highly anticipated third album, So Close to What, releasing in late February. This will mark her second appearance as an SNL musical guest, further cementing her rising status in the music industry.

A week later, on March 8, SNL will welcome Lady Gaga as both host and musical guest. This marks the second time the global superstar has hosted the show and her fifth appearance as a musical guest. Gaga’s hosting stint aligns perfectly with the release of her latest album, Mayhem, which is set to drop on March 7.

The multi-Grammy-winning artist is no stranger to the SNL stage. Over the years, she has delivered memorable musical performances and showcased her comedic chops in various sketches. With her background in both music and acting—including an Academy Award-winning performance in A Star Is Born—fans can expect an evening filled with entertainment, surprises, and possibly some unexpected comedic moments.

The return of SNL comes on the heels of its highly successful 50th-anniversary special, which aired in February. The celebratory episode, featuring a star-studded lineup of past and present cast members, became NBC’s most-watched prime-time entertainment telecast in five years, drawing nearly 15 million viewers.

With Gillis and Gaga set to take the reins in March, SNL continues its tradition of blending comedy, music, and cultural relevance. Whether it’s the controversy and redemption arc of Gillis or the powerhouse presence of Lady Gaga, these upcoming episodes promise to bring humor, spectacle, and viral moments to late-night television.

Meanwhile, SNL continues to draw in top-tier talent for its historic 50th season. This year’s lineup has already included heavyweights like John Mulaney, Martin Short, Chris Rock, and Dave Chappelle. With the show’s anniversary buzz still strong, March’s episodes are poised to keep the momentum going.

Airing Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and streaming on Peacock, SNL remains a cultural touchstone. Whether it’s Gillis’ return or Gaga’s dynamic performance, March promises to deliver some unforgettable moments on the legendary stage of Studio 8H.
