L’Oréal Paris Announces Gillian Anderson as Its Newest Global Ambassador

L’Oréal Paris has officially welcomed Gillian Anderson as its newest global ambassador, adding another inspiring figure to its esteemed roster of spokespersons.
Best known for her roles in The X-Files, Sex Education, and The Crown, Anderson is set to lead the brand’s Age Perfect campaign, a platform dedicated to celebrating confidence, beauty, and empowerment for women over 50.
Anderson’s appointment aligns with L’Oréal Paris’ longstanding commitment to empowering women of all ages. In a statement to WWD, she expressed her excitement about joining the brand, emphasizing that women are “extraordinary—unique, complex, brilliant, beautiful inside and out, at every age.”
She also highlighted the importance of challenging outdated narratives about aging, a message that resonates deeply in the beauty industry.
“It’s a pretty extraordinary moment to be asked, particularly with the spokeswomen who have gone before and are still working with L’Oréal Paris for decades—Helen Mirren, Jane Fonda, and Viola Davis,” Anderson told InStyle. “In recent years, I’ve become more outspoken about supporting and empowering women, and that’s certainly at the forefront of what L’Oréal does and represents.”
“Not only is she a true icon with a decades-long career that spans stage and screen, but she shares our mission at L’Oréal Paris to empower women to celebrate their beauty at every age,” said Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, Global President of L’Oréal Paris. “With her history of inspiring women, elevating their stories, and fighting for their rights, she encourages all of us to defy conventional timelines and be unstoppable—no matter our age.”
Shot in Paris by renowned photographer Cass Bird, the Age Perfect campaign is a celebration of confidence and self-expression. Anderson will showcase L’Oréal Paris’ Age Perfect collection, a skincare and makeup line designed for mature skin.
While she admires the entire range, she has a particular love for the brand’s Panorama Mascara, even admitting to Vogue that she sometimes sleeps in it.
“My best years are not behind me. I’m just getting started,” Anderson says in the campaign, rejecting the notion that aging is a limitation.
Anderson’s candidness about aging and self-acceptance is refreshing in an industry that often emphasizes youth. “I wish that in those early years, I would not have wasted so much time on my doubts,” she reflects. “Age has never been a limit—it’s an advantage.”
Gillian Anderson’s appointment as L’Oréal Paris’ global ambassador is a testament to her influence and her dedication to reshaping conversations about aging and self-worth. As she steps into this new role, her message remains clear: “I’m worth it.”
