Kapuso Primetime Queen and Box-Office Queen Marian Rivera’s comeback fantasy series titled “My Guardian Alien” will be seen starting April 1, 2024.
Marian’s fans and supporters are thrilled to see their idol once again in a fantasy series, following the mega-hit success of the movie “Rewind,” now hailed as the “highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time,” surpassing the previous title holder “Hello, Love, Goodbye” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards.
Marian has not done a television series for over five years. Her last one was “Super Ma’am,” which aired in 2017. According to a report from PEP, GMA Network presented Marian Rivera with several scripts, but she only liked “My Guardian Alien.”
“So, ito ‘yong My Guardian Alien. Nakita mo naman ang aming AVP [Audio-Visual Presentation], sabi ko nga, parang worth it lahat ng paghihintay para gawin ko ito.”
Marian admitted that she struggled with returning to taping the series because she had stopped for almost five years. She said she had difficulty with the right angles, lighting, and even with the camera. Even in memorizing lines, Marian really struggled. Fortunately, director Zig Dulay and her personal assistants were there to help her with memorization, especially in scenes with line exchanges. But the good thing about this project, she said, is that since she plays an “alien,” most of the scenes don’t require her to speak.
Due to the success of “Rewind,” Marian was also asked if she feels any pressure now that she’s going to be in a series. She said she doesn’t want to think of it as pressure at this point. She just wants to enjoy what she’s doing. She also looks forward to the lessons in life that she can impart to the viewers.
Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Zig Dulay, “My Guardian Alien” highlights the highly anticipated pairing and undeniable on-screen chemistry of Marian and Gabby Concepcion, portraying Katherine and Carlos, respectively. Alongside Raphael Landicho as Doy, the main cast delves into the heartwarming and enchanting narrative of the Soriano family. Elevating the extraterrestrial-themed show to greater heights of entertainment is Max Collins in the role of Venus, the business associate of the Sorianos and Katherine’s sworn adversary.
The ensemble cast is rounded out by Gabby Eigenmann, Marissa Delgado, Kiray Celis, Josh Ford, Caitlyn Stave, and social media personality Christian Antolin. The program’s creative team includes Creative Director Aloy Adlawan, Content Development Consultant Ricky Lee, Creative Consultant Agnes Uligan, Head Writer Anna Aleta Nadela, and Writers Onay Sales-Camero and Geng de los Reyes Delgado.
