Whether chasing medals or chasing horizons, MPT DriveHub, the travel companion app of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), believes every journey deserves the right support. That spirit comes to life this cycling season as the brand officially launches the MPT DriveHub Cycling Team in partnership with Huawei Philippines, a powerhouse roster of professional cyclists competing in the much-awaited revival of the Tour of Luzon.

With roots stretching across Luzon and Cebu, the team comprises some of the country’s most promising and decorated athletes, each driven by discipline, grit, and the thrill of the open road.

Meet the Team Coach: Santi Barnachea

At the team’s helm is Coach Santi Barnachea of Pangasinan, a cycling legend with over two decades of experience and numerous victories in local and national tours, including Ronda Pilipinas.

“Cycling teaches you resilience,” says Barnachea. “Every ride is a test of your will, but when you have the right support, the road feels a little more possible. That’s what this team is about: pushing forward together.”

As a coach, Barnachea has trained multiple teams and athletes, sharing not just techniques but a passion for pushing limits.

A Roster of Champions

Leading the pack is team captain Mervin Corpuz of Pangasinan, a seasoned cyclist with a decade of experience and a reputation for grit, focus, and consistency. Mervin Corpuz has delivered strong performances in both local and international races, with podium finishes at the Tour of Thailand and Ronda Pilipinas. He enters the Tour of Luzon 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose and a deep drive to represent the team at its best. His leadership sets the tone for the squad: disciplined, hungry, and ready to take on the road ahead.

Another powerhouse on the team is Rustom Lim of Nueva Ecija, a national time trial champion and multi-medalist in prestigious competitions like the SEA Games and the Tour de Singkarak. Fellow Nueva Ecijano Jonel Carcueva, a consistent top finisher in both national and international tours, brings his three-year national championship streak (2022–2024) and proven endurance to the team’s advantage.

From Cebu, Junreck Carcueba lends his versatility from years of criterium wins and long-distance tours while rising star Mark Joseph Lobiano continues to impress with early victories across the Visayas. Fellow Cebuano Khyll Lequin adds youthful energy and momentum, having bagged wins across Mindanao and the Visayas, including Ironman relay events and invitational races.

Rounding out the team is Riener Lim of Nueva Ecija, a promising young time trialist whose rapid rise in the national scene—highlighted by a national championship win in his rookie year—makes him one to watch in the Tour of Luzon 2025.
