It was a night to remember. The first agenda of Converse‘s grand opening was the ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the branch’s newest location at the second floor of Uptown Mall, BGC.

Sparkle GMA Artist Center celebrities were present at the event such as Sofia Pablo, Allen Ansay, Kimson Tan, Carlo San Juan, Anjay Anson, Jeff Moses, Saviour Ramos, Bryce Eusebio, and Aidan Veneracion. Equally catching are the silver and black balloons tucked inside the giant Converse lettering, where executives of the brand posed after the shoe store officially opened.

Some of the brand’s key persons present were MAP Active PH country manager Dirk Boerma as well as Arvie Dizon, Converse Philippines’ marketing manager.

The entertainment portion then came, which was ‘Create Next Pop-up Manila’ at the fountain area. It’s hard to miss the giant black Chuck 70 installation as one sets foot on the second venue. There were musical performances from three of the Converse All Stars, a new generation of musicians handpicked by the brand: Timmy, Hoest, and Kate.

Kiana Valenciano and Juan Karlos also brought the house down with their high-octane numbers. Of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without some refreshments and a cocktail bar for the guests.

During all this, attendees were able avail of free tattoo sessions courtesy of Apo Carandang and Al Gabriel Castro. There was a live graffitti painting by visual artist Cassandra “AC” Bautista, and an equally interesting art session with another visual artist named Gene Rhobi. Both multi-sensorial and experiential, the event comes fresh of the heels of their pop-up event last month, where they unveiled new sneaker collections: Chuck 70 Plus, Converse x Keith Haring apparels partnership, and Run Star Legacy.

The event’s theme is in line with the ongoing multi-format campaign of Converse which is “Create Now. Create Next.” The brand has always been about expressing one’s self, and they even brought together both new and seasoned creatives from 18 cities globally top work with them.

The Converse brand is more than a century old, and has been licensed exclusively in the Philippines since 1983 by Filcon Mnaufacturing Corp.
