Meanwhile, Christophe took to his Facebook account and shared updates regarding the status of the distribution of relief goods.

“Yesterday, Christmas day was great success for the reliefs operations. With a lot of volunteers and with all the donations Bastien and I received. We managed to organize and distribute the goods that just arrived from our Davao friends. We sent half of their truck to Barangay Magsaysay and the other half to the remote islands of General Luna. The local DSDW of GL helped us identify the places that needed it the most, 9 days after the typhon hit. We loaded our 2 boats early morning with 2 tons of rice, canned goods and sachets of basic necessities donated from « Oplan Tabang sa Siargao » and it took us 1h30 of open sea to reach Mam-on, Suyangan and La Janosa. One after the other, we distributed equally the goods to around 450 families (at least 4kg of rice per family). Barangay Captain Dulera Stone together with local officials helped to spread this wonderful Christmas present. To be honest the sea was really rough and these operations are dangerous but so worth it when you know hundreds of family depend on it. Someone was especially brave in our boat.”

“Your donations are so helpful and have a direct impacts on lives here in the island, we witness it everyday here on the field with Nadine. Please continue to send donations to Bastien to purchase more relief goods and to my account to help with the expenses of all our logistics and distribution efforts straight to the affected population! expresses gratitude for the help Siargao Island is receiving after they have been affected by the Typhoon Odette,” he added.

Nadine also shared that she was grateful to all those who had made an effort to extend help to the victims.

In an Interview with GMA News, Nadine stressed, “Guys, mahirap I know it’s very hard but I’m proud of everyone I’m proud of you all for helping each other. At this time walang nagiging selfish. Talagang everyone is doing whatever they can to help everyone.”

Typhoon Rai, locally known as Odette, slammed into the island of Siargao on Thursday, December 16.

One may recall that it wreaked havoc in the different parts of the archipelago and had packed winds of up to 260 kilometers per hour and with gusts over 300 kilometers per hour.

However, rescue operations took place on Friday after Odette left 200 people dead and 26 missing.
