On May 11, 2023, MTV announced that the 30th annual MTV EMAs will return to Paris, France after almost 30 years. The event will take place in Paris, France, on Sunday, November 5, 2023, and will be aired on MTV in more than 150 nations. The event will feature performances from the best musicians in the business and celebrate music from all over the world.

“The MTV EMAs is one of the biggest nights in music globally, and this year we’ll continue its legacy of delivering iconic performances and recognizing music’s brightest stars. Paris is a culture-rich city celebrated across the world for its incredible music, art and fashion, and at this year’s show we’ll unite massive talent from a local and global level reaching fans everywhere for a supercharged, music experience that only MTV can provide,” shared Bruce Gillmer, the President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Paramount, and Paramount+’s Chief Content Officer for Music. 

At the 2022 MTV EMAs, which took place at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, Taylor Swift emerged as the big winner. Four prizes went to the “Anti-Hero” singer: best artist, best video, best pop, and best longform video for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).”

For “Super Freaky Girl,” Nicki Minaj won for best hip-hop and best song, and Harry Styles triumphed in the best live category. Seventeen won best new and best push, while David Guetta won best electronic for their collaboration, “I’m Good (Blue),” with Bebe Rexha.

Taika Waititi, an Oscar-winning director, and Rita Ora co-hosted the event. The 2023 MTV EMAs’ executive producers are Gillmer and Richard Godfrey while Debbie Phillips is onboard as the producer.

Since its first broadcast in 1994, the show has traveled to 23 different cities in Europe. Only London has twice served as the show’s host city. Berlin, Rotterdam, Milan, and Frankfurt are the other cities that have hosted the event twice, along with Paris.
