The Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) celebrated its 70th year milestone by hosting a distinctive fashion event spotlighting environmentally conscious clothing designs.
Demonstrating its commitment to sustainable marketing, the association organized the PMA RAMP Fashion Show and Charity Auction Ball at Sheraton Collab, Newport World Resorts Manila, April 30.
Several directors and members of the organization strutted down the runway adorned in eco-friendly attire.
In partnership with sustainability champion Ms. Tati Fortuna, President of Ucycle, the fashion show displayed creations by renowned PMA members, including former presidents and influential community figures. These designs underscored the organization’s commitment to optimizing resource usage, minimizing waste, and extending the lifespan of products.
The night also included a Charity Auction Ball, showcasing donated high-end items, artworks, and valuable collectibles. Standout features included stunning dresses by famous fashion designers like Michael Cinco, including Pia Wurtzbach’s memorable gown, alongside pieces from Hollywood celebrities.
Artworks by BenCab were also available for bidding, all contributing to the association’s efforts to enhance PMA’s community outreach, educational initiatives, and industry events.
A portion of the auction’s earnings will support the Upskills+ Foundation, Inc., which assists impoverished communities by creating employment and generating income through locally managed microenterprises.
These enterprises promote circular and sustainable practices. Additionally, contributions will aid the Betis Symphonic Band 46, providing musical education and international competition prospects for young people.
Kathy Mercado, President of PMA, highlighted that this year’s PMA RAMP Fashion Show and Charity Auction Ball not only showcased their dedication to ethical marketing but also reinforced their endeavors to aid the community and champion significant causes.
By emphasizing the importance of adopting sustainable practices to their members and partners, this event serves as a tribute to sustainability, innovation, and solidarity as they eagerly anticipate another decade of impactful contributions.
Speaking to GMA Lifestyle, PMA Vice President Marco Antonio Montes explained the decision to prioritize sustainable fashion this year, stating that “at the end of the day, we always buy [clothes].”
“What we want to do really is to lessen the impact of having to buy new clothes because this can be repurposed,” Marco reiterated.
The PMA RAMP Fashion Show and Charity Auction Ball received support from Aseana Holdings, Newport World Resorts, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Grandhope Travel, alongside collaboration with event partners such as Tati Fortuna of Ucycle and Emperador Distillers as the bar host.
Additional support was provided by Forex Cargo Guam for Sitti Navarro’s Performance, Betis Symphonic Band 46, Reyes Haircutters, and hosted by RJ Ledesma. Creative and agency partnerships included AQAdvertising, Shoppertainment Live, Globaltronics LEDs, Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment, Pool Party Creatives, and United Neon, with Uniquecorn Strategies serving as the official PR partner.
This collective effort underscored their dedication to sustainability and community engagement. PMA serves as a robust cornerstone of support and guidance for marketers in the Philippines and beyond, advocating for excellence and unmatched service within the marketing and business sectors.
