The world of professional basketball is often associated with fame and fortune, but some players choose to prioritize their faith over all else. Many NBA stars openly embrace their Christian beliefs, using their platform to glorify God and inspire others.

Here are five basketball players who boldly put God first in their lives and careers.

Arguably the most vocal NBA player about his Christian faith, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry often uses his platform to share his love for Jesus. He is known for wearing shoes with the verse Philippians 4:13. Curry’s mother, who has been a spiritual influence in his life, introduced him to the powerful message of Romans 8:28, which reminds believers that God works for the good of those who love Him.

2. Jrue Holiday

NBA veteran Jrue Holiday has consistently been open about his Christian beliefs throughout his career. A key moment in his life came in 2016 when his wife, Lauren, was diagnosed with a brain tumor while pregnant with their first child. In his Instagram bio, Holiday writes, “We most bear resemblance to Christ when we bear another’s burden,” reflecting his commitment to living out his faith.

3. Cam Johnson

Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson has been vocal about the role of faith in his life. Raised in a Catholic family, Johnson recalls the influence of his grandmother, a “prayer warrior,” in guiding his spiritual journey. His faith is a source of strength, especially before games, when he recites Psalm 23—a verse he also honored by wearing the jersey number 23.

4.  Mike Conley

Mike Conley, a seasoned NBA player, has been a model of integrity and sportsmanship throughout his career. Conley’s Christian beliefs have shaped his approach to life, especially in a challenging environment like professional sports.

He credits his strong faith foundation to his upbringing in the Baptist Church and his family, particularly his uncle, who is a pastor. Conley often shares how his faith helps him navigate the temptations and pressures of being a public figure and his favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 54:17.

5. Jalen Suggs

Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs is another young player who prioritizes his Christian faith. Throughout his career, Suggs has been open about how his relationship with God has helped him through challenges, including injuries and setbacks.

When he was drafted by the Magic, Suggs made it clear that his faith was the foundation of his life and success. He often shares Bible verses on his social media, including Romans 12:12.

These players, through their actions and words, demonstrate that their faith is not just a part of their personal lives but a guiding force in their professional careers as well. By publicly declaring their commitment to Christ, they inspire others to live with purpose and to put God first in all things.
