Many were surprised by the photos shared of Viva artist Ryza Cenon, where she is seen with a shaved head, far from her typical appearance.
Netizens were even more amazed because there was no trickery involved; Ryza actually shaved her head, not because she was going through something, but because it was required for her role in the horror movie “Lilim,” directed by Mikhail Red.
Ryza unhesitatingly shaved her head to make her performance in the film more effective.
“LOOK: RYZA CENON boldly shaved her head in preparation for her role in the upcoming horror film #LILIM!
“‘LILIM’ directed by Mikhail Red, coming soon in cinemas,” reads the caption from Viva Artists Agency (VAA), where they shared the photos of the “shaved-head Ryza.”
Netizens were amazed by Ryza because even without hair, her beauty still stood out. Some even said she resembled the Irish singer-songwriter Sinéad O’Connor. They also praised the actress’s dedication to her work, noting that she could have used prosthetics, but Ryza agreed to shave her head for her role.
“They said beauty is tested when you take out the hair out of the image. She passed with flying colors!”
She confessed that she had previously considered shaving her hair, especially during her pregnancy. The actress disclosed that she wasn’t permitted to go completely bald, so she opted for a pixie cut instead.
Ryza initiated the haircut herself, making the first snips and shaves before a professional stylist took over to finish the job, effectively giving her a fresh start. She even participated in a video call to demonstrate the shaving of her hair live.
Ryza’s journey in the entertainment industry is marked by remarkable talent, resilience, and a transformative career that has earned her a significant place in the hearts of Filipino audiences.
Following her StarStruck win, Ryza quickly became a household name. She starred in various television dramas and films, showcasing her versatility as an actress. Her notable roles include “Darling” in the hit series Darna and the antagonist “Georgia Ferrer” in “Ika-6 na Utos,” where her performance was widely praised for its depth and intensity. Ryza’s ability to portray both protagonist and antagonist roles with equal finesse set her apart as a dynamic and compelling actress.
In 2018, Ryza made a significant career move by transferring to ABS-CBN, one of the largest networks in the Philippines. This transition marked a new chapter in her career, allowing her to reach a broader audience and take on more diverse roles. She was the antagonist in “The General’s Daughter” top billed by Angel Locsin.
Now, she is a talent of Viva Artist Agency and ready to face other roles.
