At Oranbo Elementary School, Principal Dr. Victor M. Javeña feels hopeful as private partners step in to help transform the school into a better learning environment for students. This reflects the bayanihan spirit of Brigada Eskwela (BE) 2025, aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen collaboration between the government, private sector, and local communities.
With partners’ support, the school is set to repaint three buildings and replace broken door knobs and lights. These pledges, Javeña said, will make a significant difference in making classrooms brighter, more conducive to learning, and ready to welcome students this school opening.

“Malaki ang naitutulong sa ating paaralan ng Brigada Eskwela sapagkat dito lumalabas ang suporta ng iba’t ibang mga partners natin. Pero hindi lamang tuwing Brigada Eskwela kundi maging sa mga regular na araw ay katulong natin sila,” Principal Javeña said.
As School Year 2025-2026 opens on June 16, the Department of Education (DepEd) is calling on partners and volunteers from all sectors to actively participate in this year’s Brigada Eskwela. With the theme “Sama-sama para sa Bayang Bumabasa,” BE 2025 underscores the collective commitment of stakeholders in preparing schools for class opening and advancing literacy among Filipino learners.
“Brigada Eskwela is more than just fixing the schools; it is a bayanihan movement,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said. “We invite all education champions and partners to join us not only in refurbishing classrooms but also in building supportive environments that empower every Filipino child to read.”
At Highway Hills Integrated School, Principal Dr. Henry A. Sabidong also expressed deep gratitude for the strong support from partners this year. From the donation of school supplies to assistance in classroom repairs, these efforts have greatly contributed to providing the needs and improving the learning experience of students.
“Higit pa sa kagamitan, ang ibinabahagi natin ay isang maayos na environment at safe na classroom. Hindi ito natatapos sa Brigada Eskwela. Patuloy itong nararamdaman ng mga mag-aaral at komunidad, at nakikita nila na ang private sector ay katuwang namin sa pagbibigay ng edukasyon at sa pagbuo ng isang mabuting komunidad para sa mga mag-aaral,” Principal Sabidong noted.
Key activities for Brigada Eskwela include reading and storytelling sessions, campus clean-ups and repairs, and health assessments for learners.
DepEd also encourages partners to contribute in various ways, including donating learning materials, school furniture and equipment, food provisions, health and hygiene kits, and other essential supplies for learners and teachers.
Volunteers are also encouraged to participate in classroom construction, clean-up drives, repair activities, reading sessions, advocacy campaigns, and environmental initiatives.
