Slater Young, whose claim to fame was winning Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited 2012, is being criticized by netizens because of his views regarding fantasizing other females, even though he’s married.

The controversial statement was made during the episode of ‘skypodcast’ which he anchors together with his wife, content creator Kryz Uy. The problem originated from an anonymous correspondence in which the sender’s partner confessed to imagining trysts with other females and conveying these feelings to his circle of friends via private messaging.

Slater straight up told the sender that the reality is there are many women who are as desirable as her or even at a higher level, that these private chats with the boys are normal.

The DIY home improvement content creator, casually stated that he has been part of such group messages but clarified that being part of those does not automatically equate to interest. Kryz chimed in, she and Slater ending up advising the letter sender to not make a mountain out of a molehill if her partner hasn’t committed any mistake anyway.

Kryz advised her to channel her time and energy towards increasing her desirability instead of improving how she communicates her concern.

Netizens considered Slater’s remark to be a red flag and some even considered it “triggering” and “misogynistic,” that the existence of these private chats are unacceptable in the first place.

They lectured Slater on how this objectifies women and condemned his comments, citing them as reeking of toxic masculinity. Kryz’ support for her husband’s point of view didn’t go unnoticed and she was also criticized and questioned if she would react the same if she’d been the one going through the experience of the letter sender.

Here are some of the comments on social media.

“Now that Slater Young is cancelled, can we all agree that Kryz Uy just makes him look like ‘he’s different’ ? being a good father and husband is bare minimum so i never understood the hype,” exclaimed Nicole.

Naur, I guess Slater Young is NOT the standard afterall. Women aren’t toys you can use for entertainment and if you think that’s normal, something’s fucked up in your head,” said Cha.

However, there were those who defended Slater and called out his critics instead.

“Socmed really is full of hypocrites. Slater Young admitting his mistakes is still not acceptable to these perfect beings. They’re criticizing his words, to which he admitted he was wrong, but still attacking him with harsher comments,” said Rizalyn B.

“Galit kay slater about his red flag take on fantasizing women’s photos in group chats
pero yung iba may free pass magsexualize ng mga tao in other platforms? Even resharing the photos with nasty captions? That’s very selective. The cycle never ends, ” questioned Alexis.

Professionals also gave their opinions. Ash Presto, a sociologist, reminded netizens of the Safe Spaces Act which protects against gender-based harrassment on the internet.
