One of the most monumental moments in world history will be reflected in the appearance of an original life preserver ring from the battleship USS West Virginia, which drifted to shore following the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor that initiated America’s formal involvement in the Second World War

The personal journal used by astronaut Wally Schirra in 1960 during his survival training in the Nevada desert as part of NASA’s Mercury space program will give insight into how the legendary astronaut had “the right stuff” to become the only astronaut to fly in all three space programs: Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo and whose contributions were instrumental in advancing America’s space exploration efforts. He was also the commander of the first space flight following the tragic deaths of the Apollo 1 crew on the launchpad.

A collection from the life and legend of Howard Hughes – aerospace engineer, film producer, aviator and business tycoon will be offered, including his personal drafting chair used at his airport and design facility in Los Angeles, California, during the design and construction phases of the H-1 Hercules (also known as the “Spruce Goose”) and the XF-11 experimental aircraft, in which Hughes nearly died after crashing into a house in Beverly Hills (Estimate: US$3,000-5,000 / HK$23,400-39,000); a vintage cream-colored Hawaiian shirt with coconut shell buttons and embroidered H.H. documented to have been given by Hughes during World War II to Colonel Walter C. Fain, who beat him in a craps game (Estimate: US$8,000-12,000 / HK$62,400-93,600).
