‘The Chosen’ Season 6 Faces Delay as Director Dallas Jenkins Shares What’s Next

Dallas Jenkins, the director of The Chosen, recently announced that the highly anticipated sixth season of the series will be delayed with no specific premiere date set.

This news comes as a disappointment to fans eager to see the continuation of the powerful retelling of the life of Jesus Christ, especially after the success of Seasons 4 and 5, which premiered in theaters and on streaming platforms earlier this year.

The delay is primarily due to the increased complexity of filming, the need for more time to complete post-production, and the extensive translation efforts required to release the series in multiple languages.

Jenkins explained that the filming process for Season 6 is more challenging than previous seasons due to its expansive scope and multiple filming locations. The sixth season will delve into the crucial events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus, which requires additional time and resources to properly capture.

The process of translating the series into several languages is another key factor in the delay. Jenkins noted that the team is aiming to release The Chosen in as many languages as possible simultaneously to reach a global audience.

However, the subtitling, dubbing, and quality control processes are time-consuming, requiring a great deal of attention to detail to ensure a seamless viewing experience for international audiences. Jenkins emphasized that the crew, who have been working under significant pressure, requested more time to ensure the highest standards for the series.

In addition to the physical challenges of production, Jenkins revealed that the pace at which the series has been released in previous seasons has taken a toll on the production team. He described the process as “extraordinarily taxing” and explained that the quality control procedures for The Chosen are stricter than those of most shows. As a result, the production team has been stretched thin, and Jenkins agreed to give them more breathing room for future seasons.

Despite the delay, there is still plenty for fans to look forward to. Jenkins mentioned that the first six episodes of Season 6 may be ready by the latter part of 2026, with the remaining episodes following at a later date. While this extended timeline may be disappointing, Jenkins assured fans that the quality of the show would be worth the wait.

In the meantime, The Chosen fans can look forward to other exciting projects in the Chosen universe. The animated series The Chosen Adventures is set to launch this year, and there are also plans for new series, including The Chosen In the Wild with Bear Grylls and live-action shows focusing on figures like Joseph and Moses.

While the delay in Season 6 might bring mixed feelings, it’s clear that Dallas Jenkins and his team are committed to delivering a well-crafted, thoughtful portrayal of the final days of Jesus, ensuring that the series remains faithful to its message while maintaining the high standards that fans have come to expect.
