Faith-based drama The Chosen has found a new streaming home. In an extensive deal with series creator Dallas Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios, Amazon MGM Studios has secured exclusive U.S. streaming rights to the series on Prime Video.
This agreement also includes theatrical distribution for key episodes in the show’s final two seasons, as well as a first-look deal for future projects from Jenkins and his team.
Under this new partnership, Prime Video will exclusively stream all existing and upcoming seasons of The Chosen in the U.S., starting with Season 5. The season is set to premiere in theaters on March 28 before arriving on Prime Video in June.
Internationally, the show will be available on a non-exclusive basis in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK, and Latin America later this year.
Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the show’s ability to engage audiences across generations. “As we look ahead, we see massive opportunities to develop additional faith-inspired content for our global Prime Video customers,” he said.
Lionsgate, which acquired distribution rights to The Chosen in 2023, played a key role in brokering the deal. “Amazon MGM Studios is the perfect partner to take this already highly sought-after property to the next level,” said Jim Packer, president of worldwide TV distribution at Lionsgate.
Beyond streaming, Amazon MGM Studios will handle theatrical distribution for The Chosen‘s final seasons, covering significant biblical events, including the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The series, which follows the life of Jesus Christ amid the challenges of first-century Israel, has grown into a cultural phenomenon, drawing millions of viewers worldwide.
Dallas Jenkins, the show’s creator, welcomed the partnership, stating, “For several years, the team at Amazon MGM Studios has proved over and over they’re passionate about this show and our fans. They’re going to make us better and get the show to more people, and I can’t wait to build this relationship.”
Adding to the excitement, the deal includes a new unscripted series titled The Chosen in the Wild With Bear Grylls. This show will feature members of The Chosen cast and Jenkins himself as they embark on wilderness adventures with the renowned survivalist.
With the success of The Chosen, this new venture highlights Amazon MGM Studios’ commitment to God through faith-based storytelling while expanding the franchise into new formats. The series’ dedicated fanbase is expected to grow as the partnership introduces The Chosen to an even wider audience.
With its exclusive streaming home on Prime Video, theatrical releases, and a growing slate of content, The Chosen continues to solidify its place as one of the most influential faith-based television series.
As the show enters its final seasons, its partnership with Amazon MGM Studios ensures that its powerful storytelling will reach an even broader audience, reaffirming its impact on viewers around the world.
