Simon’s Quiet Strength: Leading Israel After Loss

The Christian Call to Support Israel

Support for Israel is not just a matter of international politics—it is rooted in Scripture, prophecy, and the very foundation of the Christian faith. From the promises made to Abraham to the prophecies fulfilled in Christ, Israel remains central to God’s redemptive plan.

In today’s world, where hostility toward Israel and the Jewish people is on the rise, the Church must take a clear and prayerful stance.

What’s unfolding in the Middle East isn’t merely about territory or politics. As Pastor Greg Laurie points out, it’s about a centuries-old hatred against the Jewish people—God’s chosen nation. From ancient Pharaohs to modern terror groups, Israel has faced repeated attempts at destruction.

Today, antisemitism is resurging even in the most unlikely places—college campuses, public forums, and social media. As these waves of hatred rise, so must Christian support, grounded in truth and faith.

One common accusation thrown at Israel is that it is an “apartheid state.” But this claim does not hold up to scrutiny. Arab citizens of Israel enjoy full rights: they vote, serve in government, and attend universities. Twenty percent of Israeli citizens are Arab, with representation in the Knesset and judiciary.

In contrast, there are virtually no Jewish citizens under Palestinian rule. The difference is clear. Israel strives for peace, having returned land even after winning wars. Gaza, once under Israeli control, was handed over in hopes of peace, only to become a stronghold of Hamas.

Support for Israel also stems from a biblical covenant. God promised Abraham a land, a people, and a future (Genesis 15). This wasn’t a political deal—it was a divine oath. As believers, we trust in a God who keeps His promises.

Replacement theology, which falsely claims the Church has taken Israel’s place, contradicts Scripture. Romans 11 reminds us that while we Gentiles are grafted in, Israel remains God’s original vine. God’s love for Israel is “everlasting” (Jeremiah 31:3).

Historically, the Jewish people have given Christianity much: the Scriptures, the prophets, and most importantly, Jesus Himself. As Jesus said in John 4:22, “Salvation is from the Jews.” Paul reinforced this in Romans 15:27, reminding believers of our spiritual debt to Israel. Supporting Israel, then, is not just a duty—it’s an expression of gratitude.

Moreover, Israel’s restoration signals something greater. The Apostle Paul described Israel’s future acceptance as “life from the dead” (Romans 11:15)—a key moment in God’s redemptive timeline. For those praying for revival, the restoration of Israel is not just a side note; it’s central.

As Christians, we are urged in Psalm 122:6 to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” This is not a passive prayer. It is an invitation to intercede, to advocate, and to stand with Israel in truth and love. Let us be the generation that did not remain silent. Let us stand—firm, prayerful, and faithful—for the people and land God calls His own.
