No awards ceremony is without its challenges, and the 2024 Golden Globe Awards was no exception. The event navigated through potential controversies and issues, reinforcing the industry’s ongoing commitment to addressing and rectifying systemic challenges.
It appears that multi-Grammy award-winning American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift was annoyed by the joke made by Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy.

Jo Koy asked the audience what the difference was between the mentioned awarding ceremony and the National Football League.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” he said.
After saying this, the camera immediately focused on Taylor Swift, revealing the singer’s reaction that seemed displeased or unhappy while sipping her drinks.

“I’m sorry about that,” Jo Koy quickly said after seeing the facial expression of the award-winning singer.
Because of this, Jo Koy received a barrage of criticism from netizens due to the mentioned joke, especially from Swifties.

Here are some of the netizens’ comments:
“No matter what they say.. People from Golden Globe see something in you Jo Koy.. And they are not dumb and wrong for choosing you.. Some people just can’t accept change. Love you Jo.”
“I understand being nervous, but his twitchiness and erratic delivery was giving me palpitations! I ended up muting whenever he came on!”
“Obviously, Taylor Swift is not happy about his joke.”
“Job well done. The Golden Globe made a good choice.”
“I knew that he wouldn’t do well. This is not his crowd to perform too.
He is funny, but he is not in their circle of wealth.”
“That did not go well for him…”
“Not so good to throw a joke like that.”
But setting aside these things, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards stood as a testament to the resilience, creativity, and diversity of the entertainment industry. With its impressive lineup of winners, memorable moments, and the undeniable impact of the projects honored, the ceremony set the stage for what promises to be a remarkable year in film and television.
As the industry continues to evolve, the Golden Globes remain a beacon of recognition and celebration for the talented individuals who bring stories to life on screens big and small.
